Just got a text from a current DI assistant coach who told me about a player named Cinmeon Bowers. Granted this coach works at a low DI school but he was blown away by the talent that Cinmeon had. He goes to a JUCO names Chipola JC in Florida and apparently has a Southeast Wisconsin Connection and even played on same AAU team ad Duane Wilson. In the words of this coach "He is a beast and half...Could be the most talented forward MU had since I can remember"
Any news if we are recruiting this kid? I know the Florida JUCO's dont have same relationship with buzz as Texas Juco's, but the glowing review might be worth it
MU was in on him out of HS but he had some troubles academically and I believe he has some other baggage/issues but I can't recall exactly what. Hopefully someone else can elaborate on that.
I don't think MU is going to have much interest given some of the issues mentioned.
I remember this kid as a high school athlete in the Milwaukee Public School league. He definitely had the talent out of HS to earn a mid-major/low high major offer, but I remember him having a bit of a toxic reputation, which kept him from being recruited. Hopefully he has used his time away from Milwaukee to mature. It seems like there are two or three kids from MPS every year who find themselves in this situation - a lot of high talent/high risk kids who need to take the JUCO route (if they have enough maturity to even do that). Milwaukee is a bonafide basketball city with a ton of talent. It's just a really crummy environment to grow up in as a young man. Not very much positive re-enforcement. I believe Kwamain Mitchell and Quevyn Winters would two high risk prospects from MPS who actually made it into a D-1 college after HS, but there are dozens of others that didn't quite have their acts together.
Edit - I don't mean to start any false rumors whatsoever here, but I think I remember this kid getting into legal trouble while he was in HS.
Quevyn Winters is a different case entirely. Winters really had one bad incident on the basketball floor and that's pretty much it - he qualified out of high school and played for an A10 team last year. His move to a Juco is entirely a basketball decision...not an academic one. Bowers...well...let's just say that Resident hits on a lot of the issues.

Yeah, has had a good summer at JUCO showcases. Had his issues while in Milwaukee, but Pitino & the Ville are among the many newly interested parties. Chipola has a bunch of very good players... Bowers is big (wide), and mean... rebounder, a little bit of nasty/grimy in his game. Certainly a kid to keep an eye on.
He's always been really big, but has "slimmed down" gotten better conditioned in Florida. Still... a year from now will probably be a 6'7", 250-260 type of guy.
Should be good to go for 2 years after this 2013-14 season.
PS - on Chipola.. their nickname.. Indians... mascot? Indian chief.
6'11" Joseph Uchebo was there this past year.. he's now at Pittsburgh.
Others to look at with Chipola this upcoming season.. Carlos Morris..SWITCHABLE! Torian Graham.. big guard, former top 100 recruit, MU has been involved.
Good news to hear.

Same thing I heard.
Everyone wants a hometown kid to stay home, but Milwaukee has a lot of kids where it's best they don't go UWM/MU. It's hard to change your life and improve yourself when you are surrounded by the friends that got you in trouble in HS. It seems like it happens a lot at UWM.

10. Juco isn't my speed
Guys like Brett Swanson, Brad Winton and Jerry Mullens have the juco market cornered. They have a special road map, one that us high school recruiting guys don't have. There were good players at Winton's All-American Juco Showcase last weekend in Suwanee, Ga., but for me it was like entering a foreign country. I was only there for two hours, but things were happening quickly around me. Expanding your comfort zone is a good idea and I'd like to hit up another juco event, but these things should be left to the experts.
With that said, I didn't need Mullens to tell me that the best juco player in the country is Cinmeon Bowers. That's his rep and he certainly played to it. Bowers is a freight train forward from Milwaukee. Rick Pitino dropped a private plane in town to see him and then jetted out right after his game. Leonard Hamilton was there, too. Roadmap or not, Bowers is a bad boy and everyone knew it.
Was it Bowers or Winters that got shot and had to move out of Milwaukee?
Nevermind, found the answer. It was Bowers... http://www.wissports.net/Playground/default.aspx?g=posts&t=1229340.
Interesting that there isn't any video of him on the internet considering how highly he's regarded amongst the JUCO ranks.
In response to the questions regarding CB:
Facts:
Elgin and CB were victims in this shooting, they were sitting in a car right after school, wrong place at the wrong time
The coaches that are recruiting CB knows that he was a victim
CB was never in any legal troubles
I don't know what type of baggage these posters thinks he had, but he was another teenager trying to figure out his life. I am sure we all have been there
He has grown to be a fine young man who appreciates life
Oh yea Buzz is trying to get him to Marquette!
Marquette/Milwaukee is not were he wants to be!
Buzz is a great coach and Milwaukee is a great city!

Buzz is not recruiting Bowers. Not sure if that's because Bowers doesn't want to be here and Buzz knows this, but CB isn't even on Buzz's radar.
Yes that is the reason he doesn't want to be in Milwaukee. Thanks for your input! Buzz is a great coach!!!

Kwamain Mitchell did not come out of MPS. He came out of Whitefish Bay Dominican, one of the best high schools in the area.

Okay then......(Clears throat)
His first name sounds exactly like the kind of roll I used to order at Marquette Donuts after a night of pounding 3-for-a-buck RWBs at the 'Lanche.
Bah! he's only listed at 6'6" -we need bigs!

Gimme one Cinmeon, and one podda shuggah!
Big Cim could be quite a nice piece for FSU.

Saw that too - also, isn't that Jameel McKay's brother listed in there too?
Here's hoping that Buzz smelled that these weren't the right recruits for MU

Aah, the eating possibilities presented by a late teen/early twenties metabolism!
If he still gets to Florida State, he'll be a Cinmeon Seminole. Try to say that quickly three times.
Allegedly, they all asked for a bag of Doritos instead of a phone call....... ;D

Correct, also in the car eating weed was Jameer McKay, Jameel McKay's younger brother.

Yeah, weed and Doritos are for people that cannot afford better quality. Now Skippy Super Chunk is definitely for people seeking a higher experience with the sirloin of peanut butter and weed.
If only Buzz could land a quality big like Cinmeon Bowers, no?
Apparently there is a video of the whole event

He's clearly gonna go play for the Colorado Buffaloes

Milwaukee's Cinmeon Bowers, at 6'7", 280, is putting up unreal rebounding numbers for Auburn: 13.8 OR%, 35.1 DR%.

Bruce will have 'em dancin' before long, aina?
He has to be the first player to ever post those numbers with a vertical of less than 3 inches. As the only Marquette ticket holder who lives within 3 miles of Auburn's arena. Info have it on good authority that buzz would have been in auburn if pearl had turned them down.

Moreover, Auburn choose Bruce in preference to Buzz. Take it to the bank.
