Title: OT: Wiltjer tansfers to Gonzaga.

Nice pick-up for them and close to home for him (Portland). I was hoping he would transfer to a BE team, though.

Top 100 PF who became a two year rotation player for Kentucky.  Evidently got tired of playing behind the next great one and done PF in each new class.

I wish he had transferred to a BE team, too. Not saying which one, but it rhymes with Shmarsmett.

Really, because I once heard that it rhymes with Dukiet.

The WCC is no longer a match for the Zags basketball program.

It's kinda like Memphis was in CUSA last few years. Too dominant.

Not saying *you* say this...but this is the same board that wonders if Stevens leaving means the downfall of the Butler program.  Why don't people say the same think about Few and the Zags?

IMHO, Few has had the Zags at a high level for so long (14 years) that over time the perception has grown to view it as a major player in college hoops.  Stevens, on the other hand, has only been at Butler for 6(?) years, so the high-level perception is a more short-lived thing.  He took them to great heights, no doubt, but without Stevens, they've never gotten past the Sweet 16.  Gonzaga, on the other hand, has an Elite 8 without Few.

It's all guessing to this point, but that's my $0.02....

Those are all good point.

But I counter that Butler and Uconn sit in or near recruiting hotbeds.  Whereas Gonzaga doesn't. When Few leaves they are one bad hire from obscurity IMO.  Not a great example, but kind of like Tulsa....who saw a lot of success until they made a bad hire.

Of course, I am on record that the Zags have never been as good as their hype anyway.

I'm guessing that will be at least 15-20 years off. I can't see him taking another job and don't see him retiring any time soon.

But I agree...Gonzaga could plummet to obscurity overnight. And by the time he does leave, all the people responsible for Dickau and Few will likely have been replaced.

A bad hire by any school is a problem. In the past  MU hired Dukiet and North Carolina hired Peterson(I am not sure I am remembering the name correctly?)
