Dude is long (or super thin):

He's both long and thin. Have watched him a bunch... like him, not completely sold. Has the look (length, runs well, can make pretty & athletic plays), but isn't a great shooter - if he's ready to work, could do well at MU with some time. Upside is there, I just think he's got a ways to go to get to his potential.
Pretty nice offer list headlined by Florida.
"Kid" (looks a bit older than his class, no?) can cock the ball back and throw it down...and glide with a tomahawk jam...and hit the occasional three.
He's a switchable alright.
Looks incredibly athletic. It's a mixtape, but I was impressed with some of the slams.
Kevin Durant 2.0

That would be Looney.
(I was kidding about this kid being the next Durant.) Looney will be special. Not sure he's as athletic or explosive as Durant is. But he is long, tall, smooth, and handles it like a guard.
Why are we stuck on 6'7"? Would prefer 6'9+ guys to dominate.

Yeah why the hell ever have a kid under 6'9" on the roster when you can give all 13 scholarships to guys over 6'9"!

Is Magic coming out of retirement to run the point?
I saw Looney a few times this weekend. He's very good, but I don't understand the "next Durant" hype. Bates-Diop looked significantly better and more polished.

Wow. Hasn't played a single game in college yet, and already being compared to the second best player in the NBA.

Now that I think of it, MU is missing out on a great chance to dominate next season. There's still time to pull Gardner's scholarship (he's good, but let's face it, he's only 6'8", and we then could replace him with Aaric Murray whose 6'10" and dominate!

Ya he'll never be remotely as good as D Rose, the best player in the NBA

Really? Don't see that. I've seen better defense out of Brandon Jennings.
Sounds like Buzz's type of player. We still need a 6-11 or taller 245 lb. center
with some talent. like MYLES TURNER.

Didn't he retire? Somethin' about not having muscle memory or something?

You must've missed the thread which states Turner cut his list to 6 or 8 or whatever and Marquette's not in it. Oh wait, you didn't. You just want to bring up Marquette's perceived lack of bigs in yet another thread, despite it being about a small forward.
Missed it
Marquette does not recruit bigs. We focus on overloading with switchables!

Cut his list to 10 and Marquette still alive

I swear we could have a UCLA like run and certain people would still find stuff to gripe about.

I love how when Looney is going elsewhere, Marquette gets bashed for letting a big get away. Now we are in on Larrier, who is bigger and more likely to play the 4 than Looney is and we are still told Buzz only recruits switchables. Some people won't be happy regardless.

Larrier isn't bigger & he's more of a wing.

Looney is a wing, we've heard that for years. More of a 2/3 than a 4. Larrier can play 2/3 but it sounds like his coach thinks he'll get his share of time at 4. Similar to Steve Taylor, who came in with the skillset of a 3 but will likely get most of his time at the 4.

Nonsense. Have you seen Larrier much in person? Steve came in built like a man.
Both are versatile, but if you had to call one a forward and one a wing, you'd put Looney as forward and Larrier as a wing.
Unless you're NUTS!
Rebounding? Larrier ain't bout that life.
Not a big deal, but I just disagree with "Now we are in on Larrier, who is bigger and more likely to play the 4 than Looney is and we are still told Buzz only recruits switchables.".. because Larrier isn't bigger and he isn't more likely to play the 4.

They key part being "came in like" a man. Didn't he put on like 35 lbs in the offseason before stepping onto campus?

In person, no, but from what I've seen, he has the kind of frame that could easily add 25-30 pounds. Steve Taylor got a lot more cut and looked to add a lot of muscle from his senior year to his freshman year at Marquette. Larrier has the frame to do the same. Looney seems to be a lot more set in the mold of a mini-Durant. I don't expect coaches to try to transform him into a 4 at the next level, while I could easily see that being done with Larrier. That may not be his game now, but when you are the #38 recruit, it's a lot more likely coaches are going to mold you than if you are top-10.

Is it me or does Miami appear to be showing up on a lot of short lists for solid recruits this year? I get that they won the ACC last year, but still....
Then again, their football team recruits insanely well despite no fanbase. Being a college athlete in Miami should be an easy sell. I guess it was only a matter of time before their bball program could at least take one step in the right direction. The improved conference might also be helping.
Scout, ESPN and Rivals all list Looney as a Power forward.
My guess is he will see most of his college minutes at the 4 and almost none at the 2.
Certainly could transition to the perimeter later in college but I doubt he will stay in school long enough for us to see it.

They can also sell the opportunity for immediate playing time given who they graduated.

Buzz doesn't want anybody who would make the team 'Larrier'. (obscure AD reference)
Seemed like it was heading this way for awhile but it is now official.
