Can we bring them back? Like, for reals?

Potentially... if* you stop speaking this way.
Need to take a look at the uniform regulations........ and see what could be gotten away with. Bumble Bee comeback???
+1
Maybe we can wear them against UW or Depaul (our oldest rivals) as part of a throwback jersey game.
I never tire of the Bears/Packers throwback jersey games.
Jerel looks like he's wearing a toga in that first picture.

Nevers....but didn't Detroit wear some untucked ones a few years ago for Dickie V?
Sniff. Until I saw those pix, I didn't realize how much I miss Jerel's eyebrow...

Bring back the jerseys, or the players?
Please do bring them back, far better than MU's current offering. The shoulder piping has to go, it looks atrocious.
ZFB puts in a big vote for going back to the short-shorts of yesteryear.

There are uniform regulations? I call shenanigans on that. If there actually were regulations, no way in hell those abortions Adidas tried to pass off as uniforms during the tournament would've been allowed.

Yep, there are. Very specific.

Yes, there are. Marquette has always pushed the outer edge of the envelope on unis. The NCAA has banned two MU designs. The Bumblebees were said to be distracting because they were hallucinogenic. The second was Bo Ellis' untucked jersey style.
For younger folks Marquette under Al was a circus - the refreshing sorbet palate cleanser to the bland boiled bully beef of UCLA. Al fought with players, tormented crowds, mocked opponents, and jousted with bureaucrats just because there was a greater principle at stake. One of the finest tributes I read about Al was in Ted Sorensen's biography of Bobby Kennedy. Sorensen wrote that in the 1968 the only two white men who were safe walking the streets of Harlem were Bobby and Al.
As for having a retro night I would be all for it. The best candidates would be DePaul and St John's, Al's alma mater.
I was there when they were taking the old uniforms out for the photo shoot. The things I really noticed were that the old George Thompson era jerseys had a top which buttoned below the crotch. Also the 1977 jerseys has awesome socks which were actual gold white and baby blue.

If it was a retro photo shoot did you ditch the bird and dress up as Willie?
Always tried to bring back Bleuteaux.

The Packers haven't worn throwbacks against the Bears since 1994.

The Bears offense has been throwback to the 1920s for 90 years. #johnschoop.

The Bears have worn throwbacks against GB recently. I assume that's what he's thinking of.
Many articles during the NCAA tournament commented that we had some of the best uniforms in the country. I agree.
Can't believe anyone ran 40 minutes in Chuck Taylors! Those shoes kills my feet.

Chuck Taylors have a long history at Marquette. Players wore them back as early as the 1920s, as in this photo from 1926...

If we can't bring back the Bumble Bee unis for the players, maybe we could at least bring them back for the cheerleaders - they wore them too...

Do we really want to be seeing this on large screen, high definition TVs? I mean, maybe some of you do...not that there's anything wrong with that.

is that Murf?
I thought Warthog was the only one who respoded numerous times to his own posts--glad to see others have caught on.
For the record, ZFB is a fan of short shorts on fillies only. ZFB doesn't approve of cheap motel pants for dudes.
