Hold on just one minute! I also received a response from Fred today. I wasn't going to mention but your post compels me to clear the air.

Coach Crean made the comments to his in-laws (they're ALWAYS here) on a Southwest flight from Omaha that connected in Baltimore (he lost plane priviledges after his Michigan "performance"). And btw, why didn't you tell me this guy couldn't coach?

I appreciate the humor, well done. Fred's a good dude, very smart. I didn't think the story Indeelaw passed on smelled right, so I reached out to Fred. He confirmed, it was BS. Now, I know for Lenny and a few others that's a deflating answer, the belief system takes another hit.
Keefe, if you would like I'm happy to PM you Fred's private email address, not the public one on the IU message board. You may interact with him directly if you don't believe me. You seem like a standup military man at times, I wouldn't want you to question me or the veracity of my statement. By all means, I'm happy to do that. As a standup military guy, I would also expect that you would be for clearing up the truth and if a statement was made about Coach Al, Coach Buzz, whomever that was flat out wrong, you would want that cleared up.
Ben Cohen and I had a great exchange this last night and this morning as well.
