All caps...ten exclamation points...
Well, I've never been to Clovis NM but if it's anything like other small New Mexico towns I have been to, I would be excited to be at Marquette too!
And MU nation is happy that you are here, Mr. Dawson.
That is actually John's dad's Twitter profile. Sounds to me like he is happy that his son is going to school so far away. Must be a problem child. Very discouraged.

His dad is a minister and there are no probelms with his son.

When stuff like that is posted, it just leads to bad assumptions about people. There is no reason for it.

Come on. That one was funny. His dad is happy to get rid of him? Should've hashtagged #discouraged.

Because Milwaukee is nicer than Santa Fe or Taos??
I've been to Cannon AFB and Clovis is culturally linked to the Texas Panhandle. But northern NM is spectacular. There are few regions as compelling for natural beauty, cultural richness, and artistic merit. Comparing a town like Cimarron or Taos to Milwaukee is brutally unfair. To Milwaukee.

I had family that lived in New Mexico for years and am aware that Santa Fe and Taos are beautiful places, as is Albuquerque to a lesser extent as is much of the state from a natural/geological beauty perspective. One of the most earily beautful places I have ever seen is the area around Sky City, which is west of Albuquerque.
However, from my experience small town New Mexico (not Santa Fe/Taos size, smaller) does not offer much in the way of excitement for an 18 year old man.

He didn't want an answer. He just wanted everyone to know that he knows everything about New Mexico, and Old Mexico, and Future Mexico.
"Marquette soil"? Uh oh. He's not in Michigan, is he??

My thoughts as well. If I'm an 18 year old baller, I going to the big city. Especially if the big city has a training facility like "The Al" and features frequent chartered flights (during and post conference season) to other big cities.
And BTW - I'm exited to have Mr. Dawson's son at MU. :)

I get it, but the teal takes something away in my mind. Sorry for leading anyone to "bad assumptions" about John or his Dad.
And for the record John, we're glad to have you in MKE!

My father's family has owned land north of Santa Fe since before WWII. The Opera House was built near there so the homestead is no longer the secluded place it once was. My wife loved to go there just to watch the sun set on the Sangre de Cristos. I learned to ski at Taos and always loved hiking and fly fishing in the mountains of northern NM and southern CO.
Towns like Clovis, Tucumcari, Roswell, Las Cruces and Hobbs are very different from Taos, Cimarron, Durango, and Gunnison. I get how an 18 year old from Clovis would crave something with a richer ambiance and a more diverse opportunity for companionship. But if I were 18 again I would take at least a year or two off from university and ski, mountain bike, rock climb, and white water my a$$ off in northern NM. The ski and mountain towns offer exceptional outdoor adventure with ample and remarkable likelihood of world-class indoor exploration. A red-blooded 18 year old American male would do well to spend a year skiing, climbing, drinking, fornicating, and reading Hemingway in those hills.

We agree. It's a beautiful mystical place. I am glad to have spent some time getting to know it.

I agree. It's playing down to the people that don't understand sarcasm and irony. It really doesn't say much for the intelligence and reading comprehension of people on this board.

Standard question with an order of Huevos Rancheros. NM is the only state with an "Official Question." If you answer Christmas you get a blend of both. Personally, I am Green.

When living in Asia we always bought a Ristra from one of those places between Espanola and Valverde. In Jakarta our cook thought we were strange to bring chiles to Indonesia. She didn't understand it wasn't simply peppers.
Funny that the same people who ripped scoopers for following MU recruits now follow MU recruits and post their tweets. Whatever works for you.
Love Mr. D smacking down the YOLO tweet- a true man of God.
I am glad John is excited. If he were not, there would be something wrong. Hell, I was excited when I started college and that was in the VERY unexciting city of Worcester, MA. There are not many places that are more depressing. Welcome to MKE, John, I hope you have a great four years.
Apparently John John is the nickname. Wasn't that JFK Jr.'s nickname? Hope Mr. Dawson isn't a budding aviation hobbyist.

JFK, Jr's fatal flight was a tragic comedy of errors that underscore his arrogance, if not incredible stupidity. Kennedy had fewer than 70 total hours and fewer than 20 in type yet rented a higher performance aircraft than he was rated. He never filed a flight plan, intending to fly in good weather during daytime. Because his wife's sister was delayed in NYC they took off at night, in haze, and increasingly poor weather (he never requested an updated weather briefing...) Rather than fly along the coast he chose a blue water path which is far more hazardous from a SA perspective, even for an experienced aviator. Kennedy was not instrument rated and he set his radios to all the wrong freqs so he could not get in-flight updates nor call for help. Finally, his foot was in a cast which makes pedal control problematic and swimming in the event of a ditching impossible. Kennedy didn't just kill himself; his arrogance killed two innocents.
The Navy was ordered by Clinton to conduct a search for the jetsam, handing taxpayers a multi-million dollar bill for John John's stupidity.

That region is stunning in its beauty. A lot of Americans do not realize the oldest continuously inhabited city in North America is Santa Fe. I learned to ski at Taos but we certainly skied Purgatory as often as possible. The climbing in the San Juans is superb.

By white folks. Pueblos settled what is now The Plaza in 900 AD. The oldest family-owned restaurant in North America is not Bookbinders in Philadelphia. El Farol in Santa Fe holds that honor. In a city of fabulous food El Farol is one of the best. My wife loved their paella and the jazz and blues afterwards in the bar was excellent.
