Title: Give DePaul credit for at least making the list
Post by: ChicosBailBonds on June 21, 2013, 01:28:24 PM
Can't see them landing the #2 recruit in the country, but he's in their final 10.

And I'm sure that's where they'll finish...#10.

I'll pass on giving them credit.

It could be that he put DePaul on there to appease family and friends, make it look like he might stay very close to home.  If that's the case, this gives DePaul false hope and them being on his list probably is a bigger cost than it is a benefit

I disagree.  It's a limited benefit in that it gives DePaul the image of being a player in recruiting top guys.

Chris Alexander of Chicago Curie is a 6'8" PF and the number 2 recruit in the country.
Jahil Okafor is a 6' 10" C from Chicago's Whitney Young and the number 1 recruit in the country (Cordell Henry was also from Whitney).

Alexander and Okafor are VERY good friends and play on the same AAU team, Mac Irvin Fire.  They are now openly talking about going to the same school.

Could they both choose DePaul?  If they did, the Blue Demons would be ranked next year and it could possibly be the best thing that could happen to the new BIG EAST.

As strange as it sounds for a dire hard MU fan, DePaul landing both of them might be the best thing that could happen for our new conference.  Time for Oliver Purnell to earn his paycheck.

Now that I said all that, they will probably both go to Illinois, possibly the. Worst thing that could happen to IU and Bucky.

I think that them going to DePaul wouldn't be as big as us getting stone.  I know it would bring the absolute bottom feeder to the top but only for a year and would you really want to risk having a team like DePaul flop in spite of those two + Garrett jr? With purnell's ncaa track record it'd be likely to happen and they'd be a huge mockery.
