2015

Diamond stone is number 4 now?! Ugh why bother going after people that low (didn't feel like teal on my phone)
Nick N. shot up the charts with a bullet, good for him.

Nice to hear he has a good grasp on things.
Wow, good for Noskowiak. Also, only player in the top 60 committed so far.
Seventh Woods only #14 in 2016? Blasphemous!
Riley LaChance from Brookfield, WI also broke into the top 100 at #97
Haven't Buzz and Duane been recruiting Rashad Vaughn? (#11)

Yes, but Kentucky and UNC seem to have the inside track now.

Nah... that's fair. Amazing athlete, but has work to do.
Harry Giles is the absolute TRUTH. INSANELY good. NBA superstar.

His father Tommy was a walk-on during the O'Neil era
We have 4? spots open for '14?
What would be a good realistic class?
Cohen, White, O'Mara, and a Buzz curve ball we didn't see coming?
Looking at our roster, is there any good JUCO recruiting sites that show available big men?

White is not impossible, but I wouldn't call him realistic either. Buzz might be waiting on Goodluck and Quadri Moore before offering O'Mara.
Myles Turner has risen to #10. Oh, well.

His father Tommy is also an overcontrolling nutjob. Steer clear.
2014 does not look strong for us. Will Cohen be our highest rated prospect?
Pretty crazy that Riley LaChance made it in the top 100. I haven't heard or seen much about him.
I don't think Rashad Vaughn is in play for Marquette any longer.
If I had to guess, I'd say Buzz's 2014 class will include Sandy Cohen, Malek Harris, and a center (Quadri Moore, Sean O'Mara, JUCO). Not sure what he's thinking for that last spot yet.

If this is the class, it would be fine but it was not exactly what MU was looking for. For MU to become elite, they need to bring in a Top 20 kid so they stay in the Top 20. Diamond
Stone will have to be the one. If Buzz can not land him, I am sure he will be thinking much like Tom Crean that is hard to get MU to the next level. There is nothing wrong with the last
3 years but I am sure Buzz wants more.

Goodluck's preferred school is UK but they havent offerred. If they do, it prob wont be until spring. He also received an offer from Duke this week... I dont think Okonoboh is a realistic option (and throw in UL, UConn and SU).

We've been in (and stayed in) the Top 20 many times in the past decade and not one recruit has been ranked in the top 20.

Are rankings even meaningful? How a prospect fits into a coach's system is far more important than any other criteria...and ranking systems dont do that.
Grandstaff will be exploding down low as he rises further with each stroke. He will not be denied and whenever he sees the hole he will be ramming it in, provided there are no double dribble calls.

It's certainly not getting clever.
Hard to understand how NC and Kentucky can fill up their sports dorms with 30-40 basketball players. It makes it tough on other schools to recruit.

A class like the one I suggested certainly wouldn't have the top end guys we are hoping for, but it would still be a solid class following up on his 2013 haul. Sandy Cohen will be top 100 by all ratings services. Malek Harris has had a great last couple months and very well could end up in the top 100. In fact, Reggie Rankin put him in his "12 players on the cusp of the ESPN 100" list. Quadri Moore is a 4 star center and Sean O'Mara is not far behind.

I also think people forget there are only 100 top 100 recruits. After duke, Kentucky and some of the blue bloods get there 4 a piece it is hard for teams to get 3 yearly like we have been doing. There are a lot of d-1 schools out there competing for these guys. If we get 3 every year with a few of them being top 50, we are in pretty good shape. MU has been about developing a team, not one year wonders. (Though I would gladly take them)

Generally speaking, yes. Top 10 vs. 11-20 vs. 21-30 you can historically see this has been the case.
After that it gets a lot murkier.
The class after a good deep class is usually weaker, right? guys don't want to sit for 3 years?

If kids jump to the NBA after a year (or even two), then a weak class shouldnt happen. If no one leaves then its a tougher sell since programs like UK will have minutes.

Easily the best site for JUCO's that I've seen.
Glad to see that Marquette education didn't spoil our ability to make penis jokes
On a serious note. It's great to see that we are the only school to have an ESPN 60 recruit already. Buzz is working way ahead of schedule

Chicken or egg. Do you get good recruits and then go to a FF or do you go to a FF and then the good recruits come? We keep winning consistently, making it far in the tourney, and keep our draft streak going, the top 20 recruits will start coming. Easier said than done, of course. Hopefully, Buzz keeps up the good work. And more importantly, the BOT keeps basketball as a priority.
