Why is Marquette not on here?  I've always wondered that.  MU is also not on ESPNChicago's website despite that fact that Notre Dame is on there, SIU-Edwardsville (maybe its Carbondale, I forget at the moment) is on there, as is U of Illinois and Ill State.

MU is closer to the Loop than all of these schools and I would make a bet that we have a larger percentage of our students who come from Chicagoland than any of the schools listed above (maybe with the exception of UIUC)

I bet Loyola, IIT, DePaul and UIC have more from Chicago than MU does.

For ND and U of I, the closest major media market is Chicago.  MU is an its own major media market, Milwaukee (major enough to have a baseball and basketball team).

And you would win that bet.  By "schools listed above"  I meant the schools that I listed (SIU, Ill State, etc), not all of the ones listed in the original post.

Exactly. It's still frustrating to see a write-up of a UIC-Valpo game, and have to search for the Big East results to simply see the Marquette score in the Chicago Tribune/Sun Times.

There's a lot of small schools missing on that list, and I'm surprissed that if Notre Dame is listed that Northern Illinois isn't listed.

Both papers are bankrupt and readership is hemorrhaging.  I think you gave another reason why.

A blurb about the MU Game is always in the "other area teams" section of the Sun-Times.

?  You think that there are more MU fans than Notre Dame fans in Chicago?!  No.

No, I don't think that.  However, I do think we are closer than ND and do have more fans in Chi than either SIU or Bradley.
