Title: Ugly Side of Recruiting
Post by: MUMonster03 on April 23, 2013, 02:54:41 PM
I know we have some of the most passionate fans in the country but hopefully we are not any of the fans stooping to this level and being talked about.

Just remember to keep it classy and that these are kids being recruited not adults.

I would be absolutely ashamed if it was any MU fans doing the calling.

Thought Diamond was the #1 prospect in his class? Are we still interested?

Sounds like Kentucky. SEC programs and fans don't seem to have much of a grasp on ethics.

And this is why kids shouldn't be on Facebook and Twitter. They should be adult sites. Social media is crazy.

They were calling his house. Should kids not answer the phone either? This isn't a social media issue, this is a people are idiots issue.

It may not have been an MU fan, but someone pretending to be an MU fan. Or maybe it was an MU fan pretending to be someone else. Or maybe.. Well I think you get the point. I just hope these kids realize that these people messaging them don't represent an entire university or fan base. Unfortunately, I think it may play a bigger factor than we might want to believe.

I suppose that's why the article doesn't mention any school or fan base as the perpetrators.

That's a well thought statement Sunbelt. You're a moron.

What I'm saying is kids post too much personal and inappropriate information on these websites which comes back to haunt them in the future. Their young minds are not able to comprehend the consequences of their post or the reaction of others toward them. That's why so many youth are affected by "Internet Bullying".

Since you didn't understand, I will assume you are one of those KIDS, and sad to say, are the true moron. Sorry I offended you.

The ugly side of recruiting is coaches cheating.

The USA Today asked some of the best coaches in the game if they have ever lost a recruit because they didn't cheat...check out some of the responses.

Not a kid and not on twitter. And I'd be willing to bet the idiots making threats aren't kids either, adults with nothing better to do than obsess about their favorite team.

Not offended, just think your post is extremely short sighted. Maybe these recruits shouldn't own a phone either, just go to school, work on their game and go to sleep. And where does it state that Stone posted personal and inappropriate information? I think you watch to much 20/20, take isolated incidents and try to turn it into an epidemic.

Because there are already enough wings in our 2013 incoming class?

That's some pretty funny stuff right there.

Some of my favorites, with my interpretation...

"Have you ever lost a recruit because you would not cheat?"

Quote from: John Calipari"Well, I don't believe so...The ones we are supposed to get, we get. The ones that aren't supposed to come here, don't come here."[/i]

...so what you're saying is you get the ones you're supposed to get because you would cheat?

Quote from: Jim Boeheim"That just sounds like sour grapes. If you asked 25 coaches, they will all say that they did at some time, my guess would be. And probably of those 25, more than one of them probably cheated."

I believe that's what they call a non-denial denial.

Quote from: Rick Pitino"It happened two times in my life. Once two or three years ago. I was blown away...That was the only time in my 30 some years did it ever happen. I just move on to the next kid. It doesn't bother me at all.

Wait...were you blown away, or did it not bother you at all?

Quote from: Larry Brown"I would agree that I think there's a lot of bad stuff happening out there. There's no doubt in my mind we lost kids. It's going to happen...But I want every kid who comes to SMU to be able to go to school like an SMU student.

You do realize you're saying this about S-M-freaking-U, right?!?
