Greetings - First post here. I've been a reader for years and thought I'd finally join the crowd. Huge MU fan who really appreciates this board. Thanks.
Much of the talk recently has focused on Jake Thomas (who came back), Drew Crawford, and now Jerome Seagears possibly joining MU. But, shouldn't we be talking about adding another big? After next season, isn't McKay and Taylor Jr the only players taller than 6-6?? I know...one season at a time, but I feel adding big hasn't been talked about enough. Am I wrong?
Thanks, please take it easy on me for my first post. :)
First of all, welcome! I agree that we really need to focus on getting a couple of solid bigs for next year. Since we're aware of it, Buzz certainly is too. I'm confident he will find some talented big guys for 2014 and hopefully land Diamond Stone from Dominican for 2015. Could be sleepers like Otule and Gardner.
Guys that are willing to work hard and put in the extra effort to become contributors for MU. It will be exciting to see who we end up with in our front court in a couple years. Match that with our upcoming back court and the team will be dangerous.

It's not easy finding those Lazar and Jae types!
Well hopefully Otule comes back for yet another year.

Nah, I'm betting on him declaring early for the NBA draft next year.
Buzz was watching one tonight. Plenty of time.
Who?

According to several tweets from J.B. Bauer, Buzz was watching Looney, Stone, Trey Lyles, and Sean O'Mara tonight.

If he's able see all of those guys in one fell swoop, I can't imagine Buzz
wouldn't be there.
We've needed a big for a decade.
To reach the consistently elite level.
Talking one top 100 big. Mbakwe could have been one.
While I agree that MU needs bigs going after next year, a starting front line of McKay, Stjr, and Burton seems like a pretty good place to start.
Long term we do need another big. But for 2013 we could still use another guard. I just don't feel like a back court of Derrick Wilson, Todd Mayo, Jake Thomas, and three freshmen is the type to challenge for a NC, though our front court is good enough.

Ya! We need a big. The is now. Who knows if Looney and Stone are coming to MU.
Looney likes to play the perimeter. We do need one or two bigs with some talent.
We need a big in the 2014 class. This isn't 2014.
No Trey Lyles, but yes on the others. Was referring to 2014 O'Mara..
Diamond w/another nice game this morning.. Spin move into a vicious dunk was pretty (perhaps a travel,but...). Also
Pulled up for a couple treys.
No MU that I've seen yet today, just Buzz last night
We'll get Diamond Stone. No worries on the Big-guy front :)

Except 2014-15, since Stone won't wander around until fall 2015.

Best big looking at us for 2014 is top 25 player Goodluck Okonoboh, and we're better than the majority of the schools he's looking at. We also will have considerable PT available at the 5 after Oxtule are gone after next season. It could also help us with Looney if we get him, as he won't feel as pressured to play in the post with Okonoboh there.
I would happily accept a couple of 6'9 switchables in lieu of a true 'big'.

I like where your head is at, but we're up against Cuse, UConn, Pitt, Gonzaga, Mizzout and IU among others thus far for his services. It's not like we're up against Illinois St., DePaul, and Bradley. 'Twould be quite the recruiting coup if he signs here. Would love it if that happened.

Out of those I would say our program is better than everyone except Cuse and IU, and yeah I know what you mean, it's not like we're battling powerhouses Bradley, Northern Illinois and UWM for the likes of Sam Dekker.
Why are you saying our program is not as good as cuse and IU?

He didn't say that; he said MU's program was better than the other schools without conceding that Cuse and IU programs were better.

The way everyone talks about JJJ, I thought he would fill Vander's role easily, with better shooting.

Freshmen usually come with a lot of hype that they have trouble living up to. Never expect a frosh to get a lot of playing time.

I agree, very rarely does a freshman live up to expectations. I don't expect JJJ to make up for most of Vander's production, rather Todd. I expect Todd to average somewhere from 10-12 PPG and JJJ somewhere from 5-7.

I expect Todd and Otule to matriculate when they are receiving Medicare.

Wonder who would win a battle between Goodluck Okonoboh and God'sgift Achiuwa.
Paint Touches tweeted that MU is showing interest in 6'11 Myles Turner, a 4-star C from Texas (2014).

His defense is good, looooong. Offensively he's got a ways to go, but should improve a lot.
First game of the night Friday was Kevon vs Turner. Buzz was on hand.

The book on Jameel is that he is a high motor guy that is always around the ball near the basket. I think he's got the right drive.
