Duane Wilson preparing hard for Marquette
Written by: Mark Strotman
Duane Wilson had two options. The 6-foot-3 point guard could have coasted through his final spring before arriving at Marquette and played catch-up once offseason workouts and individuals begin. Or, he could have set up seven-day-a-week workouts, finding himself in ... Continue reading → (http://painttouches.com/2013/04/16/duane-wilson-preparing-hard-for-marquette/)

Love this piece. I think Wilson is going to be real special for Marquette.
Wilson's enthusiasm is contagious. Sounds like he has an enviable work ethic too. Doesn't hur that he has DJames-type athleticism + 3" taller with a killer trey ball. It's almost like Buzz created him in a lab to run point at MU.
EDIT: used the word "killer" twice in a 4 sentence post. Gross.
Wilson is easily my favorite player, and will be for the next (3 years) ;) He loves Marquette more than anybody else it seems, and his dislike for UW-Madison is awesome. Duane reminds me of the likes of MJ, or Kobe in terms of wanting to win at all cost, and hates the competition. I have a feeling he will take over my all time favorite MU player with Diener slipping behind him
The Koeing, Wilson matchups will be memorable, can't fkin wait!
Thank you Duane for choosing Marquette!!!

Yeah he's just like a combination of Steve Novak, Duane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and LeBron James!

I was thinking Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul and D
wyane Wade, but I like yours too.

The problem with your spelling of Duane is that nobody's going to remember Dwyane Wade once Duane Wilson steps on campus. In fact, I don't even know who this Dwyane Wade guy is.
I'm all in on this Vaughn dude. Maybe BeeJay can gives us the skinny on the cat's game, hey?

Dammit, you're just better at this than me.

If he has a big dislike for UW, then he should be named captain immediately. h
He is too young to be a Senator already. Now the real question: What degree is his animosity toward ND?
If Wilson convinces his buddies to join him at MU, watch out. Gonna be worrying about more than one player leaving early to the draft.
My favorite line - "There's not too many times you're going to see me and Diamond not together."

Oh, I think he'll be better than that....
Chemistry is SOOOO important to any team, in any sport, but ESPECIALLY basketball, perhaps more-so than any other sport. By 'chemistry', I mean both senses of the word--familiarity with each other's playing style, as well as in the sense of the quasi-fraternal bond that the players share and every team hopes to eventually form.
If Duane Wilson can get all his buddies to come to Marquette, AND they're all top recruits....Man, I'm all for it and look forward to a very, very bright future.
I absolutely cannot wait to watch Wilson and the rest of the class play. He has very high character and is motivated everyday to get better. Sounds like he's spreading our recruiting influence to some very highly ranked guys as well.
I was already excited about Mr. Wilson's game and knew he was a young man with high-character and a strong work ethic, but paint touches has me even more jacked about what Duane will bring to the program. He is on the fast-track to being one of my fav's. Cant wait for next season. He is going to be special.
For never having seen Duane play in person, he is quickly becoming one of my favorite MU players.

Agreed.
I get playing the not-too-interested card, but perhaps he should start amping up the peer pressure as Stone's decision draws closer. "Either come to Marquette or I'm not inviting you to my birthday party."

He already had a hand in Jajuan, if he can get Vaughn & Stone on top of producing to his peak potential on the court, he could go down as one of the best recruits in MU history. And I'm only exaggerating a little for effect.
Great piece, great kid. Buzz used to always say of Junior "he's not the best player but he's the one you'd pick first on your team". Duane sounds like he has the talent AND he's the guy you'd pick first. While I know its asking a lot if he could have a freshman season any where near DJ's this team could be just fine without Vander.

Certainly as one of the best
recruiters.... ;)
Reading this article reminded me of that recent Fab Five documentary (30-for-30?), when Howard and King (I think) were like "yo man, let's do this, let's get Jalen and Chris to join us and let's run it!" That's why Webber wore #4 and Rose wore #5-- they were the 4th and 5th members to join the Fab Five, respectively.
