Yeah, because Barnes has never been able to recruit capable replacements,
like Kevin Durant, Avery Bradley, Tristan Thompson, TJ Ford, or Cameron
Ridley etc.

Honestly, at this point, I am not worried.  Buzz gets lots of money here, and has shown that he can succeed, and get good players.

I forget, what is the draw in Texas?  His home state?  Pfff.  Why start over when you have something good going?

The only way he goes is if they make some crazy unheard of deal.  Or if the new BEAST has problems and affects recruiting.

In the unlikely situation in which Barnes is gone, they should go after Gregg Marshall, he has a better resume.

The implication from your two links is that Buzz should leave because there are great recruits in Texas?  I don't follow.  Buzz already recruits nationally, and simply being IN Texas doesn't mean you get the lions share of the good TX kids.

I don't have ANY idea why the longhorn network would matter.

Benny B is not worried about Buzz leaving.  Not one iota.

What Benny B is worried about how CLS (Chicken Little Syndrome) has become a pandemic around here, how a little bit of conjecture turns into allusions of nuclear bombs, and how a random internet fan board might have the tiniest bit of influence on pulling in a prize recruit.

But Benny B makes his own beer.  So while CLS and nuclear holocaust have the masses running in panic, I'll be in my basement with enough beer to keep me calm and happy for years.

He would have a chance at players that he currently doesn't have here. Those players may enjoy being on ESPN all the time. There are many reasons he would be interested in an Austin job. Saying that Texas would have no draw is just absurd.

Some of your arguments I agree with, but Longhorn Network thus far hasn't exactly created a bunch of success for UT football or UT hoops.

Based on what?  Buzz has recruited players from all over the nation, including Texas.  Now, with the success he has had here at Marquette he is known to a lot more potential recruits.

Those players may enjoy being on ESPN, but the new BEAST has a great TV deal as well (not financially, but there will be plenty of national airtime).

FWIW, since I don't live in Texas, I would never watch the Longhorn Network.  I don't see the benefit of having a regional channel.  I mean, I understand why it exists, but I don't it would sway Buzz to go down to coach at Texas.

There are plenty of reasons to go coach at Austin.  My point is that there isn't really any reason for BUZZ to go coach there.

Come on. Are we really going to try to ignore the inherent advantages that Texas has?  I really don't want to respond to make this thread keep going, but can't we at least find a middle ground between "HE'S GOING TO LEAVE US FOR ANYTHING" and "HE'S NEVER GOING TO LEAVE, WHY EVEN THINK ABOUT IT?"

Let's also hold off on proclaiming the TV deal is great and Fox Sports is a success. I have high hopes, but ESPN still runs the show right now.

I didn't say he'd never leave.  In fact, I said there would have to be an amazing deal for it to happen.  I never said that the TV deal was a great financial deal.  I only said that it is a national network.  The Longhorn channel is regional

Longhorn is national in the sense there are some providers that carry it more than just regionally but not fully national.  I would call it a hybrid at this point based on their package distribution.

No, you said "I am not worrie" and "What is the draw in Texas" and "the only way he leaves is if there's some unheard of deal." Texas isn't only on the Longhorn channel, so I don't get how that is comparable. It;s like Wisconsin fans ripping on the Marquette channel only being available in NE Wisconsin and Chicago.

Oh, and the TV deal is a great financial deal. It'll be a question of whether it is a "great" deal in terms of exposure, attention, raising interest, competing w/ ESPN.

My point was that it was ridiculous for people to act like Texas isn't a very very attractive job. I don't know how we got sidetracked onto LHN, I only kinda added my thoughts on it cause you pointed out it was just a regional network.
