Love his attacking and finishing ability. Also, Deonte appears to have good court vision and good ball-handling. His mid-range and three-point shots will probably need a lot of refinement, but with his physical stature and aggressiveness, he should be ready to grind and battle right away. Can't wait for him to get here.

Nothing wrong with his pull up and mid-rage game too me from what I saw...As a lefty he has a soft shot and good release and is strong enough to create room for himself to get his shot off.
Can be either an early or late bloomer or disappointment all depending on his mental makeup which I have not got a read on yet.
But if he has the heart of a lion in him like the good ones ... and he finds out what weight his body carry physically he has all the tools.
I am excited for both him and the young cat Duane Wilson...as a tandem in the backcourt someday.

But yes you are right...he can attack the rim hard and finish! Very strong on the finishing on contact. He will fit right in with Buzz wanting his guys to be tough and be able to invite and initate some contact and still be able to get a good shot attempt up and finish at the line.
He has a good first step and he is a better ball handler then one might think and can dribble to get to the rim instead of dribble to dance and evade...he has an attacking purposeful dribble which I like and not just pounding it to pound it.
What some may see as being stiff a bit...I think he has some head and shoulder wiggle to his game and can adjust in the air to get his shot off. Once the diet improves and high school junk food baby fat is melted...look out. The strength and conditioning coaches at MU will have a field day with this kid if he is not a lazy one which I doubt.
That is the good thing about kids who stay at home...most of them if not all will work hard because they have people coming to see them play every home game.
Didn't see a hell of a lot of baby fat there.
He'll need to work on finishing with his right hand.
I only watched him one game at UWGB campus for a holiday tournament. The positives is he is a lefty. This will help in getting his shot off and blocking shots. He is physically imposing and has a good physique. This guy looks like he has huge hands and could do quite a bit with the ball. He played very strong when he turned it on and got to the rim at will. I do agree that his shooting form looked a bit off. I don't know how that will come into the mix against bigger, stronger, quicker, and talller players. I'm glad he is coming to Marquette next year.
Every time I have seen a highlight I keep saying "man he looks smooth but seems like he is at a slower tempo." Then I realized why I liked him so much: he has some nice old man game. This highlight reel reminds me of Khaliff Wyatt's game with a bit more dunking ability. He has that nice stutter step and cross over, and the step-back jumper. It's not playing slow, it's that he is long and athletic and makes it look smooth. I REALLY like his game.

Please tell me where you have been watching these old man games... must be something in the water over there. Burton's biggest asset is his combination of strength and athleticism.
Is he truly 6'6"???
If he can defend, he will see the floor next year. If not, he may have to wait his turn.

I think he is more around the 6'4" to 6'5" range.
Seen him a few times. Great demeanor on the floor. Really gets after it, and gets his teammates involved.
He's incredibly strong, but still very agile and athletic. Built like Wesley was when he came in. He does a little bit of everything, and reminded me of Jeronne Maymon a bit. Same type of game, but at a different speed because of his athleticism.
He's another in the mold of Lazar/Jimmy/Jae. Undersized, but has a great motor. Once he improves his outside shot, he'll be a load to deal with.
The video is now shut down by youtube as "private". Must be too many Scoopers hitting youtube and overwhelming it.

This isn't a diss. I mean it like he is a beast...but he makes it look so smooth. Wyatt is an athletic freak too, but both hide it well with how pretty they make it look. It's not all run and gun... There is a level of.control and calculation that shows.veteran iq. He excites the heck outta me.

Yes, but he's still a puppy. He'll end up at 6"6". :)
