I actually like all these teams. Say what you want about Louisville, those seem like some good kids. To me, the most unlikable team is Syracuse, but I'd lie to see a Louisville v Syracuse final.

As a Marquette grad I was taught to be objective...the school on Wisconsin Ave, that's what they taught me to be. Kool Aid is available for sale at the store. We had a great year, Buzz was fantastic, exceeded all expectations. We played pretty poorly against Syracuse, they are a very good team. IU, played poorly against Syracuse, they are a very good team.
Chicos, you are nothing but a self-loathing MU fan who bad mouths the team and its players at every opportunity - and try to pass it off as "objectivity." You aren't objective...you pick fights intentionally.

Patterson didn't make the grades in Summer school. IU's new policies in the wake of the Sampson fiasco requires faculty sponsorship, which he didn't get. In the old days, Patterson would still get a pass, not anymore.

You are aware of the faculty sponsorship requirements now as a result of the Sampson deeds, correct? It's been around since the 1960's, but revamped after the BS that Sampson pulled in 2009-10. Why would IU not want to keep a kid that was a stud player and instead see him go elsewhere? Even his AAU coach admits the kid screwed up by bungling his summer school. Why, if IU wanted him gone, did they CONTINUE to recruit him in the hopes he would go to a prep school, which he did at Brewster.
As his AAU coach also said, IU coaching staff not thrilled with decision. There were plenty of other kids to "Crean" or "Buzzcut".
"They're shocked. (The IU coaching staff) expected him to be there and do what he was supposed to do," Hawkins said. "All I can do is just say they really wanted him there."

I know the conspiracy theorists are out there in droves, and Patterson himself can't wait to say how wronged he was....no wonder he's now going to the purity that is Syracuse basketball. ::)

Patterson needed a 2.0...and he got a C and a C-. He appealed and lost. I guaranty that if its Cody Zeller that he wins that appeal.
Believe me. I live here and I know damn well how it works and how it can be shortcut. And the AAU coach's comments were motivated by a lot of politics. Really, most of my die hard IU friends know exactly what went on...squirmy. Give me a break.
Yet again...preaches with Marquette...plays naive with Indiana. Real "objective." ::)
Well, fortunately for IU, Zeller is an All Big Ten academic and likely all American Academic.
I guess you think the AAU coach was lying. To each their own. I'm not playing naive at all, by the way, everything I heard from the guys I still know at IU athletics really wanted this kid. They live there, too, and are involved 100% not on the sidelines like you are.
They were hoping he would get it together at Brewster and be admitted a year later, didn't happen. There were plenty of other kids they could have "Creaned" that didn't have the skill level of Patterson...if you're going to play the conspiracy theory, why not play it all the way through?
I'm just glad IU even has an oversight committee like this for athletes. Does MU? I think we do, we definitely should, but after kids like Alton Mason and a few others over the years, I don't know.
I'm proud that IU has 6 members of the team on All Big Ten academic team and won a Big Ten title. I would be just as proud if MU can get there and do the same academically as well as athletically. We should strive for that, you are free to disagree, but I do think that doing well academically and athletically is something that should be praised.

Chicos...they wanted to park him at a prep for a year and bring him back. The AAU coach wasn't lying, but he definitely hedged his comments because they know where his bread is buttered. C'mon. They needed a space...they found a space. You were all over MU with the Newbill situation, and now you are pleading innocent with this??
And again, this is an example of your "objectivity." Why bring up Marquette at all? I mean...Alton Mason??? Really, is that the best you can do?
You are hopeless.

Former i4 recruit says i4 "screwed him" (http://zagsblog.com/articles/syracuse-recruit-boeheim-will-coach-in-2014-former-indiana-recruit-says-hoosiers-screwed-him/)
QuoteOne of the players coming in next year is Brewster shooting guard Ron Patterson, who said he's rooting hard for Syracuse Thursday night because he initially committed to Indiana and felt they did not treat him fairly during the recruiting process.
"I want Syracuse to beat them real bad," Patterson told SNY.tv. "[Indiana] was my old team and I really don't like them so much. Not the players, just Indiana, period."
A former Broad Ripple Creek (IN) High School star, Patterson reportedly failed to meet academic requirements in summer school and was then denied admission to Indiana. He then opted to spend the year at Brewster instead of transferring. He ultimately committed to Syracuse in November.
Asked why he felt the way he does about Indiana, Patterson said, "Just the way they did me. Like I was screwed over. They said it was academics, but I don't think it was. I think there was more to it."
Patterson said and McCullough will watch the game in the dorm room, and root hard for the Syracuse zone to foil Indiana's shooters, Christian Watford and Jordan Hulls, as well as Cody Zeller and Victor Oladipo.
"I think Syracuse wins just by the zone," Patterson said. "If Indiana isn't hitting shots it's not be going to be game. If they hit shots it's gonna be a long day."
