Title: Pitino in HOF
Post by: MUMonster03 on April 05, 2013, 10:20:35 AM
http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/9137005/rick-pitino-gains-election-basketball-hall-fame-source-says

I know a lot of people here hate Louisville and don't like the ma but Rick Pitino has been one hell of a college basketball coach and deserves this honor.

Granted he has only won one national championship, with one pending, been to 7 final fours with 3 different schools. He may seem like a scum bag at times but none of his programs have ever had major violations nor have they vacated final fours unlike the other man who has taken 3 teams. He would probably of had a shot at 900 wins if he wouldn't have left for the NBA three times, twice as head coach once as an assistant, since he has averaged almost 25 wins a year and has spent 8 years out of college since his first full time job at Boston.

Love him or hate him the man can coach. Congratulations.

Good.  He is a revolutionary coach who is better than half the coaches already enshrined.

Well deserved.  Non-basketball related trips to Porcini's aside, not a whole lot I'd take issue with Pitino.

He's already on the Wall of Fame at this joint.

Best coach in college basketball IMO.  Good interview as well...not a lot of coach-speak BS.

Can you imagine the howls coming from SoCal if Buzz was banging waitresses?  On restaurant tables or not...

I am in the small group of RP fans and not ashamed to admit it. Hate him when we play them no doubt, but the guy can deliver the goods. He has style and is a winner. One of my all time favorites.

Been watching college hoops for more decades than I care to admit and Pitino easily is one of the top 10 coaches I have observed. Probably top 5. This seems a long overdue honor.

Did I miss something? How would southern California respond to the MU coach having an affair with waitresses?

referring to a SoCal based poster, who, apparently, approves of Slick Rick's activities in I-talian restaurants.

Where did he say that?

Pitino is a great college coach, top 5 all time.  He deserves to be in the HOF.  Marriage indiscretions are irrelevant to this particular discussion.
