When asked about Wichita States defense, Rick says they're are Marquette on steroids. The best defense they have faced.

I guess our guys should have taken steroids before we played Ville.
That's high praise from Pitino...crap! I wish Louisville would stop making me like them.

Nah, then you could be more susceptible to compound leg fractures.
I have been around the Louisville fan base a ton over the past two weeks. Was in Lexington and Indy. Talk about 2 fan bases that have tremendous respect for each other. I really hope we can play Louisville in the future.

But that means that he thinks Wichita is better than MU....the nerve.
As an aside when talking about Wichita State, how is it that they get away with (meaning the administration doesn't stop them) the cheerleaders regularly giving the "Shocker" hand symbol?? Don't get me wrong, I think it's hilarious, just surprised the school sanctions that.

It's just coach speak. Glorify your opponent before you play them

Is that their equivalent of the "Hey" song?

I'd love to see that version of LW's letter!

I found the answer to my own question (with a bonus pic of Jenn Sterger to boot):
The Shocker is more than just an obscene hand gesture. In fact, the Wichita State student body caused such a huge controversy in past years when they were shown displaying the three-finger hand arrangement in the national media, prompting the administration to take action. The school deemed the hand gesture appropriate only when the thumb was added to the mix. The students seem to have obliged and even encouraged me to get it right.

Plenty of pics out there with the cheerleaders doing it, but I for some reason haven't been able to copy them in.
Just heard this on Sportscenter.... Respect!

Watching Ware doing the top 10 on Letterman. It was funny. Mot hilarious, but I was fond of the boy. I hope he recovers well and plays next year. I still hate Louisville

Didn't they beat us by 20?
So, RP says he thinks WSU's D is like MU's, only better. And some scoopers start taking a liking to RP and think of it as some sort of ultimite compliment?
Maybe in the future, he will say we are as offensively efficient as Creighton!!
Wow Rick, I had you wrong all along...you are super.

Jenn Sterger still has a job? Wow. I thought she'd faded into sexy irrelevance years ago.

I was down in Lexington too, and I was a little surprised initially at how cool Louisville fans were to us Marquette supporters. Right before the Davidson game, a random Louisville fan walks from his seats about 5 rows off the baseline all the way up to the upper level where a few of us were sitting, offered us extra tickets he had next to him free of charge, and brought us down by him. We asked him why us, and he said he was looking for Marquette fans in the upper level to bring down to his extra seats and spotted us. Vander's game winning layup happened about 25 feet from where we were sitting. I've never had a rival fan treat us so well, just really cool.
Needless to say I gained tons of respect for Louisville and I agree in hoping that we can continue to play them in the future.
MUFC9295 - thanks for the tip on the Top 10, I had missed that.
We R Final Four - if you listen to the clip, Pitino praises MU's defense quite a bit. Do I like him more for having singled us out while being interviewed ahead of the Final Four games? Yes, I do.
GoMarquette32 - that is nice to hear and how awesome you got such good seats. Most times you hear about how awful opposing teams' fans are (hello Syracuse). I really hope we can find a way to keep the Louisville rivalry going.

Someone posted this in another forum:
"Don't know if anybody who was in Lexington noticed this, but after Louisville beat Colorado State prior to the Marquette/Butler game, Pitino was doing his standard post-game media obligations on the floor. Meanwhile, Marquette and Butler came on the floor to begin warming up. Once Pitino was finished, he headed to his team's locker room. On the way, he walked past the Marquette end of the floor and was looking at the guys and clapping his hands, appearing to me that he was encouraging them and rooting for them to win. He walked pretty closely to Junior, and they shared a quick hug."
From what I've heard, MU/Louisville seems unlikely. Pitino seems to favor playing someone closer to home, with Memphis seeming to be the most likely annual home-and-home once UL heads to the ACC.
