Title: 2014 National Championship Odds: Marquette 30/1
Post by: National Champs on April 02, 2013, 11:22:05 AM
Here are some odds on next seasons teams. Not surprisingly, Kentucky's recruiting class earned them top billing.

30 to 1 ties us for 16th.  Sounds about right at this stage.

Also, sell Kentucky.  Betting on a stacked freshman class means you win it all or get bounced in the first round of the NIT and nothing in between.

Can I bet against Kentucky somehow?

7 of the 10 Big East teams are listed.

Kind of nice to see.

But have you seen that Kentucky recruiting class? 5 of the top 11 and 6 of the top 18 players, with potential to still get the #1 player.

probably about right...but there are plenty of teams with better odds that i don't believe will be serious contenders (and i'm sure there area teams behind us that will do much better).  if the right things happen for mu in the off-season there's no reason they can't be a championship contender.

Can they all play together?  Freshman are all over-rated, were any of the top recruits Kentucky got last year really any good?  Goodwin going pro, I do not see it.

There is no way I buy Creighton or Colorado as more likely to win a national champion than us.

So they must be assuming dougie boy comes back for Creighton (20/1), but then not assuming Otto comes back for G-town (50/1)?  I would take Georgetown all day over Creighton if they both came back, and for sure if both of them left for the draft

It's always good to be in an underdog position.  We can all be excited because of Marquette's top ten recruiting class coming including good height in McKay at 6'9 1/2" and great ball handlers and shooters.  And, we have Jamil and Devante returning.  Can't wait for next year!!!

I think it's because McDermott is a fringe first round pick while Otto is probably a solid lottery pick so they probably think McDermott has a good chance of coming back.  If he comes back, I think we are 50/50 NCAA tournament team.  W/O, we are probably somewhere 7-10.

Kentucky two years ago. Freshmen that won the National Championship. Three of them now playing NBA with 2 of them starting. Yeah, they can be pretty good. If you have 6 of the top 11 or whatever it is, with a chance to get Wiggins, I won't bet against Kentucky.

And tied with Minnesota?  The seventh place B1G team that doesn't even have a coach yet, if their commits stay neither is highly regarded, they lose two of their four double digit scorers and two top rebounders assuming Mbakwe actually, finally, is done.

We should not be lower than Creighton, Oregon or Colorado, and we shouldn't have the same odds as Kansas State, Minnesota, NC State, Pitt or UCLA.

Given the past few years, it seems Georgetown should be 50/1 to beat a double-digit seed in the first round than to win the title.

I'm not looking forawrd to them choking every year and making the conference look bad.  -__-
