Place is simply too crowded. Not a seat to be had 3 hours before game.
Any othe?r places you can watch game with a decent but not sardine crowd?
Blue Bayou...just up Southport about a mile or two
Four Shadows...Ashland and Diversey (my recommendation)
Don't know about the city but in the burbs (Downers Grove) will have a good size crowd.
Four Shadows for sure

Most definitely

Yes. It will be sweaty today too.
Plenty of time to run up to Milwaukee.
You're still gonna wanna get there early, especially if you want a table. I'd go like now
Come out to the 'burbs.
Just stay away from any meth labs in the area. Those are the Syracuse hangouts.
I haven't watched a game there, but the Hidden Shamrock on Halsted and Diversey also advertises as a Marquette bar. Unfortunately, they also support ND.
Walking down halsted, noticed Hidden Shamrock has also "become" a Marquette bar... had the flag flying in the window. I'm probably headed to schoolyard or fourshadows.
We had a blast and a great sized crowd at Will's Northwoods Pub or whatever it's called last Saturday...

But then you have to drink out of badger cups... but I do agree it's a fun bar to go to. How many were there?
O'Sullivan's in Forest Park (don't know what el line you're coming off of) but personally I think the Schoolyard is worth it.

We had about a dozen or so folks with us in our group... all the tables were full as was the bar but you could also get a drink very quickly...
Dinger's on 107th & Western is always the south side spot and ha a great crowd on Thursday. Quigley's on 111th & Pulaski is another place.
On my way to Cortland's Garage now. Best beer list of any MU bar. ;D ;D ;D ;D

I enjoyed the place when I watched the Cuse-MUBB game in the sweet sixteen round (the "DJO GAME"). Maybe I should go back there to recreate the magic.

Schoolyard or Four Shadows have a much better MU game watching experience than anywhere in Milwaukee. Unlike the Milwaukee bars, in Chicago it's all about the in bar experience. No one is on their way to the BC.
Oh, and you don't have to deal with Badger fans.

Agreed. I only had bad luck there with MU tourney games in terms of outcome of the games. Don't fret though, I've moved 1500 miles away from Chicago and will be nowhere near there ;D
Anybody know anything about O'Neil's on Wells? Advertised MU bar, haven't heard of it before

The loop is usually dead on weekends, so not sure how it'd be today.
Ok, think im headed to the Yard, with Will's as a backup. If you see a guy in a DJO #1 gold jersey with a navy longsleeve under it, feel free to say hello.

Tried Four Shadows.... disappointed. Loads of seats all reserved. Staff not helpful. Goodbye.

Did you really think you could roll into a Marquette bar 1.5 hours before the tip of the Elite 8 and get seats?

Only about 20 in the place at 1:30 .. all seats are reserved. Quite defensive. What are the owner worried about a bad review?
For anyone interested went to Will's. Found a seat. Decent Marquette crowd. Not Schoolyard level but good.

Was there for the Sweet 16 game and the owner was super nice. We got there about an hour early and there was a no show for one of the reserved seats, and he set us up at it.
Have had another good experience in games past where he actually bumped non-Marquette fans from tables when the MU game started so fans could sit. I'm pretty sure that's why they do reserved tables...its for the MU fans.
Sorry you had a bad experience but I have nothing but good things to say about Four Shadows.

Four shadows > Schoolyard any day.

Good to know. Just annoying that you come to a place pretty dead and you cannot sit anywhere because everything is reserved. Normally I don't even mind standing but hurt back earlier in week so needed to sit.
I think my mistake was going to The Schoolyard 2.5 hours before game and thinking I would get a seat. Best place to watch a game but unfortunately everybody knows that and the place is a zoo. Then wasted time trying to find a second option.
Will's Northwoods was fine (got a seat at least; plenty of Marquette fans) but nowhere near The Schoolyard in terms of atmosphere.
Hidden Shamrock has been pretty good lately. Decent crowds and I've been able to get a place to sit everytime, but I also get there about 2 hours early. Schoolyard is always so packed for big games it's not even worth trying.
