Just saw this posted on reddit, where some of the young MU'ers hang out...

Titled: "They are starting to make me feel we're not from the same alma mater and the same heritage."
Well the band had face paint on, sporting the Warriors look so.......
Funny, I'm planning on wearing my Warriors shirt to work tomorrow. Suck it young'ins!
Heh, it's just funny the different perspective.
Funny cause as a current student I would still much rather be the Warriors.
Pretty great. While I do sport a Warriors shirt often, I definitely relate more to "MU" than either Warriors or Golden Eagles.
Sincerely,
Class of 02
I embrace the Warriors as my heritage. I respect that history. I even rock my "Warriors Forever" tshirt I bought while waiting in line at the BC for the doors to open. But, I, am a Golden Eagle.
It's one of my favorite things about my beloved alma mater - whether you are a Warrior or a Golden Eagle - WE ARE MARQUETTE. And that's all that really matters.
Ha!
You could hear at the end of the game last night:
"Lets go Warriors, clap clap clap clap clap!"
It will NEVER die.

Great commerical idea.
I am a Golden Eagle. I am a Warrior. I am a Hilltopper. We are Marquette.

Quick, someone find a family with 3 generations of MU grads who each graduated with a different nickname!

Naw, that is confession bear. And a pretty tame one at that... some of them are very dark.

+1 They should totally do that. Get a really old dude (wearing a letterman sweater), a middle aged person (warrior swag), and a young'n (current stuff)....
Great great idea Titan

Interesting to get your perspective, which is an eminently reasonable one. I have wondered if the Golden Eagles generation really identify with it. As a '91 grad, I admittedly (and stubbornly) just can't bring myself to adopt the Golden Eagles nickname etc...I refuse to buy any shirts or other Marquette items with Golden Eagles on it. I understand how current or recent students could find the Warriors thing annoying, but I would think the extent of that annoyance may depend on how strongly (or if) one relates to being the Golden Eagles.

jsglow. His parents were Hilltoppers, he was a Warrior, and jsglow jr. and warriorchick jr. will be (fingers crossed) Golden Eagles.
But really Warriors.

Could someone please explain the Golden Avalanche thing? Yeah, it snows in MKE, but Avalanche? Where's the connection?
Only a kitten who likes the atrocious nickname shoved down our throats by the worst president MU has ever had would write something like that with a picture of a sad bear. How lame! No wonder you feel different than Warrior fans...YOU ARE DIFFERENT!!
Get off my plane!!!!

Marquette would never go for it. They'd never try to publicly put the Warrior name out there. But it is a great idea.
Right on --- Rocky Warrior

I think it was in reference to the football team--coined by a sportswriter I believe regarding an "avalanche" of gold football helmets coming down the field.

That bear must be an endangered species just like the newtimers that support the golden eagles, that kitten ass, politically correct, pseudo liberal mascot

Nope, just pointing out they where supporting the warriors look.
I have and will always be a Warrior. If any of my children ever attend MU they too will be Warriors. If they do not attend MU they will be Warriors. It gets in your blood.....doesn't go away.
I was a student durring the MU "gold" era.... now that what an idea. Why didn't that stick and why aren't we saying bring back the GOLD?
