EDIT to Include: Transfer opportunity for Buzz due to his Texas connections?
Never stop recruiting.
Don't want him. Issues with coach because he did not try hard enough
uhhhh, i think the implication here is this might be further proof of Barnes' tenure reaching its conclusion. Program has been in rough shape since Durant left.
Unfortunate; a strong Texas team is good for Barnes' job security....and therefore good for MU!

Get what you were looking for, Chicos.
Chicos will only be happy when Buzz leaves.... not because he wants Buzz to leave but to tell all of us "I told you so"
Burst of poutrage coming, that anyone on this board would think that he would somehow be drawing attention to a possible job opening on the day of the sweet 16.
I hope we win, Buzz stays and he gets every recruit he is after. Good luck to the boys tonight!

Prior to this past disaster of a season - for which there are many extenuating circumstances - since Durant left Texas is 126-50 with five NCAA appearances in five years and an Elite Eight.
To put that into perspective, over the same time frame Wisconsin was 126-46.

Barnes isn't going anywhere any time soon. With Buzz's Texas connections I was wondering if this was a transfer opportunity.

Stop...how many times can I say I hope he is here for many many many years.
How many times can I say it? I don't want MU to be a stepping stone school.
You mean a kid who's minutes were cut due to attitude problems and the return and emergence of Kabongo led to a transfer?! No way!
Let's stop reading tea leaves, kids. The obsession by this board with the state of Texas is worse than it is for college football recruiters on Friday nights. Must mean we need a football team.

I'd appreciate if you would quit using facts. It makes it too hard to troll.

Some coaches just have a better way of getting through to some kids. Buzz seems to be one of those coaches that is adept at that, thus I wondered about a transfer possibility. When Patterson was cut loose by Indiana for not making grades due to what was described as a "work ethic" problem by his AAU coaches, MU and Syracuse and a bunch of others immediately offered a scholarship. Some coaches just have the right touch
(but you know, I want Buzz gone so why am I saying nice things about Buzz....I clearly don't mean them....right Madtown? Right Windy? )

Ron Patterson has a very different take on why he's not heading to Indiana.
I think it's safe to say that if here were a top 50 player, not a top 150 player, and IU wasn't oversigned or next year, his grades wouldn't have been an issue. And, before you rush to TC's defense, I think the same would occur at many, many other schools.
Not sure if he's a good fit or not, but I think we are going to have an open scholarship once things shake out, and I don't think we want another freshman with four incoming unless the coaching carousel frees up a very good option. A transfer (sitting out or not) could be ideal.
What makes you believe this kid has any interest in MU in the first place. Just checked Rivals, Scout and others with no mention of MU with him while he was being recruited.

Seriously, you think Blue is leaving, still not there yet, O'Tule I can see.

The probelm is that they're selective facts, spun to make it sound like there is nothing wrong at Texas.
Here are a few more facts:
In Barnes' first 10 years, Texas made 2 elite eights, 2 sweet 16s, and 1 final four. They finished with at least 10 wins better in conference every year but one.
Since then, they have reached the 10 conference wins total only once (despite conference play expanding from 16 to 18 games), and haven't made the 2nd weekend of the NCAA tourney. They had their first losing season in 15 years. Their #1 scorer is reportedly entering this year's NBA draft and their #2 scorer is trasnsfering. They have no top 100 incoming recruits (despite nine ranked players in state), their recruiting class isn't even in the top 40, at least five other teams in the conference have better classes coming in per ESPN.
Funny how a different set of facts paints a completely different picture.
My opinon: Barnes may get another year to try and turn it around--but one should easily undersand if Texas decides to pull the plug. And its foolish to try to paint the reality at Texas as as being no different than Wisconsin right now.

Even if Texas opens up I'm not concerned. That being said, who would have guessed Howland/Tubby being canned after the seasons they had?

A number of transfers go to schools that were never originally part of the final list when they were high school players.

Could very well be...though his AAU coach also stated that he screwed around during the summer, didn't work hard and got a C- and a C which put him below the university's requirements. My point is that certain coaches can sometimes make a player grow up, mature, turn the light bulb on.
Vander Blue has matured, at least from my view from afar, tremendously in the last 6 months, and certainly from where he was as a freshman. I give Buzz a ton of credit for that, as well as Vander.
Just because kids don't work out for one school, or have a bit of an issue doesn't mean they won't work out somewhere else. UCLA had a big transfer this year leave the program after just not wanting to put the work in for Howland. He's going to Georgetown now. If G'Town can get that kid going, he will be a beast.

I understand that, its just that everytime a kid leaves a program it is the analysis around here that MU could be a destination. So what, the kid is from Texas. Now if the player had original interest in MU, then a possible discussion, aka Jamil. This kid, no.

Just to clarify... you want Buzz to be here for "many many many years" because you really like Buzz, respect the man and think he's a good coach? Or simply because you don't want MU to be a stepping stone?

Wasn't even considering Blue. Just playing a very easy, non-speculative probability that of nine players eligible and five incoming that some combination of two won't be here.
Jeff Goodman reporting McClellan is looking at us, Oregon, Illinois, Miami, and Fresno. We have to stack up pretty favorably in that group if we really want him. He's been a double digit scorer in his two years at Texas, but his shooting percentages suck and he would have to sit out a year. He would fill a gap in our current sophomore class, but I'd like to keep hanging out those schollies for the big fish Buzz is trying to reel in for 2014.

I guess we're pulling the ol' coach for player trade
Considering how patient Texas is being with Mack Brown, it would seem Barnes is safe.

It'd be really great if got back to being elite at football too, so they could all forget about basketball.
I'm pretty sure that if Wade were available, this board would say "pass, academic issues." I get that some guys have some red flags, but every transfer possibility has been met with hesitation, as if no one is good enough for our school.
