Title: 75 Years of March Madness
Post by: MarsupialMadness on March 26, 2013, 06:45:43 PM
Has anyone been watching these on CBS Sports Network?  I've caught bits and pieces of a few episodes and there are a ton of Marquette references.  For a younger alum, it's nice to see clips and hear stories of our great history.

Anyway, the episode I just watched was "A Coaches Perspective" which is a roundtable of current coaches talking about their NCAA memories.  Rick Pitino had a lot of love for Marquette and Al McGuire.  Everyone was asked to describe their first memory of the tournament, and he said his first memory was Al turning down the NCAA invitation for the NIT.  Ever since then, he started paying attention to college basketball more.

The coaches were later asked to name their favorite Final Four team, and Rick choose the '77 MU team as his favorite.

I think the series is well done and is definitely worth a watch.  It seems to be on pretty regularly, so check it out.

It's kinda surprising to me how much continued love he gives us.

He also applauded our decision to split and pushed hard for Temple to be accepted, even though he probably already knew at that point that he and Lville were gone.  He loves the BE.

Pitino to Marquette?

It'd be so hard to stop hating him...
