Title: More fuel for the fire

MU is about to get exposed and this may be a laugher.

That actually took up bandwith on the NBC Sports site.  Wow.  I'm utterly amazed.  The journalist must have been truly inspired.

The media is just supplying ammo to Buzz and the team left and right now. I love it when we are the not supposed to win and have a chip on our shoulder. We have no excuse not to come fired up on thursday.

I suspect that Miami doesn't play well when they get complacent or don't have anything to prove or think they are simply better than the other team.

I have no problem with the national media feeding any of those perceptions.

Point Guard-deficient seems tough on Cochran and Clarke. Not to mention I don't think our blue road uniforms are that harsh on the eyeballs.

FGCU beat this Miami team hitting only one 3-pointer and turning it over 20 times (sound like a team we know?). Indiana State beat this team shooting 27% (sound like a team we know?).

MU shoots it better than Miami. MU moves the ball better than Miami. MU and Miami score and rebound at the same clip.

I think this game will be epic and likely the best one on Thursday.

Bear in mind that this is "NBC" talking (or at least, publishing).  Their competitor, CBS, has decided that MU/Miami is actually worth a prime-time slot on network TV, while CGNU/Florida has been relegated to the late night lead-in to TBS's (would-have-already-been-cancelled-on-any-other-station) bro-show.  I'm going to go with the network that actually has some skin in the game on the decision of what is perceived as a better match-up.

In other words, here's an example of an article where the exact opposite of everything said is true and correct.

This guys is trying REALLY hard to discredit our team.  Calls Butler and Davidson "mid-majors deficient at the point guard position"  Why call them mid-majors?  It's totally irrelevant.  Butler is probably better than most of the "major" programs in the tournament (eg Wisconsin, Colorado, Pitt).

I agree. Certainly the point guard-deficient slight against Clarke is not warranted and ALL of our uniforms are awesome. I don't know if we do all of those things better than Miami but I know we are deeper and can run better.

Let's freakin' do this.

Sure wish we'd played some teams with good guards to get ready for this game. I mean, Larkin is a 14.5 ppg, 4.6 apg, 3.8 rpg guy. And Durand Scott scores 13.2 ppg, dishes 2.5 apg, and grabs 3.9 rpg. (Combined total of 27.7 ppg / 7.1 apg / 7.7 rpg.) How could Marquette possibly prepare for that?

I mean, sure, Shabazz Napier is a 17.1 ppg, 4.6 apg, 4.4 rpg guy, paired with Boatright, who was a 15.4 ppg, 4.4 apg, 2.9 rpg guy... (Combined totals of 32.5 ppg / 9.0 apg / 7.3 rpg) ... but they go to school at Connecticut, not Miami. Not even comparable.

And Brandon Triche scored 13.8 ppg, tosses 3.5 apg, and grabs 3.4 rpg, paired with MCW, who is an 11.8/7.6/4.8 player... (Combined totals of 25.6 ppg / 11.1 apg / 8.3 rpg) ... But their jerseys are a different shade of orange than Miami's.

We're screwed.

If what I understand to be true (Butler in NBE makes them Major, no longer mid-major), the adjective "mid-major" says nothing.  Then only change is conference affiliation, right?

Butler was a good team; Clarke's a great player. A different draw (or a different 2nd half adjustment on Clarke) and they're in the Sweet Sixteen no doubt.

We're still in the NCAA's?  I stopped watching on Selection Sunday.

I think this years S16 is best matchup of the 3 S16 run. Last two years I faked being optimistic to some degree, especially UNC. Believe we are definitely underdogs this time and big challenge, but very hyped to see what happens.

funny - this board seems to have been more afraid of Davidson than they are of Miami....

I was.  We're playing better now, and the pressure of a 1st round loss to a (gasp!) "Mid-Major" is gone.

How about some more?

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1580054-ncaa-tournament-2013-bracket-predictions-and-picks-for-sweet-16-matchups/page/9

In all the other matchups, both teams are mentioned in "Best Storyline" except ours. Also, the margin of victory is the second biggest in our game.

Hey Miami, good luck with the prime time spotlight in the sweet sixteen. Experience, toughness, coaching, bench play mean nothing, because we have gold uniforms.

Is it just me, or the more bull*hit articles i read just makes me more and more upset.  I think it was TallTitan who made the poll "If marquette losses would you consider this year a success"

I voted yes, however the more i listen to Buzz talk about getting over the hump, the more disrespect i read, the more i'm thinking, no i wouldn't.  I now expect this team to get to the Elite 8 at least.  If MU does make the Elite 8, then we may play Cuse (who we've beaten) or IU which i think we are fully capable of beating.

Odds right now are 35-1 Marquette wins it all, i'd take that.

It's funny how much crap I get on Facebook for all my pro-MU posts and how many people dislike me because I call them out for a) being a poseur fan of some blue-blood team or b) just a sh1t-talker who went to some community college or other unimportant school...this is why. Marquette never, EVER gets a break. People always act like we're some barely-serviceable team who has no business being in the tournament, let alone a power conference or even D1 for that matter.

Yeah, I've got a chip on my shoulder. A big one. And it's all this continual trashing that puts it there.

I  get crap on Facebook from my own sister.  Of course, you can't blame her, seeing as she graduated from that athletic powerhouse, University of Tennessee at Martin.

Funny that they insult Butler, who beat Indiana and Gonzaga this year (among other good teams). Davidson is always a decent team too, they just get downgraded for playing in an awful conference.

Funny that we are the team about to get "exposed", yet FGCU vs. Florida is their #1 matchup.  Dude, we won the Big East regular season.  We are 33 games into the season with the 14th toughest schedule in the country.  How would we get exposed in the tournament?  We are not Memphis, Creighton or Gonzaga.

Forget the teams involved:  #1 game is a 1 vs. 15 seed.  #8 game is a 2 vs. 3 seed. What is this guy smoking?

Um, yeah, I have zero interest in that Florida-FGCU game. The Gators will win by 20.
