I would for a National Title but not a Final 4.
For a Natty, yes. Final 4 fun no. Cause were going right back to the final 4 next year when he comes back.
Is that even a serious question? MU goes to the Final Four and Vandergets to go to the NBA. That's win-win. How is that a trade off?
Would want a national championship with it otherwise let them get it next year
Yes and it's not even close.
To echo the previous poster....
Yes, and not even close. Vander to the NBA (1st round) continues the MU pipeline to the NBA. Guaranteed Final Four clearly outweighs possibility of success next year, which may or may not materialize.
In a heartbeat. Another FF with an NBA early entrant would pay MASSIVE recruiting dividends. Get the natty in '16 when Stone takes notice and joins up with his buddy DuWilson down the street.
Vander would!
Isn't the real question who would trade Vander for Josh Gasser?

Well played.
In. There are no guarantees, in basketball or in life.
Does this assume we lose in the final four? Either way, I'd take it. One in the hand and all that...

What he said!!
I would. Great exposure that would help with top recruits. Would help with the oversign issue.
Hell yes I'd be in for that. We've got backcourt talent coming in.
When Marquette wins the NCAA, Vander will be a number 1 draft pick. We will hail him with confetti and wish him the greatest success in the NBA. If we don't win, come on back, help us win next year.

This.
I'd take in a second. Are you kidding me?
Absolutely. Present value is way higher than future value and ff is probably the peak of next years team. Ill take the ring and show it to stone.
I'm shocked that there are even two people who said no.
Great teams make post season runs AND lose players early. Final Four = greater publicity for our program. Loss of VB to NBA = greater publicity for our program. Both of these together lead to better recruits, leading to better talent, leading to more post season runs.
I don't know, I would really like a FF, and we do have good replacements coming in. Plus I'm hoping Mayo makes a similar Sophomore to Junior jump that Blue did. I suppose I'd be willing to accept a FF run to say bye to Vander.
How is this a trade? It would be great for the program and for Vander. Great all around. It would be great to have Vander back next year, bur if all the experts are telling he'd be a first rounder, he has to go.
I think as long as he's a lock for the first round, and not like a Lazar or Jimmy first rounder like a top 20 first rounder I'd be ok if he left. But if he went any lower I'd be fairly disappointed with him leaving. With or without a FF

If Blue gets drafted in the first round it won't matter when. Guaranteed money, baby.
He's beat up on relatively unathletic defenses the last two games. Now, he's been unbelievable in crunch time, but he's not putting up these numbers against much better athletes. Don't think he's nearly ready for the Association. That being said, I'd take it as long as Buzz stays. Buzz is the key to our entire future.

I don't know I just feel like there's a pretty big difference. I know it's guaranteed money but to recruits it's gotta be different, and the earlier on the more likely you are to get some playing time right off the bat.
I would say yes. I would really love for Blue to come back for one more year, as our team would be stacked if he came back. Seeing how well he improved over the past off-season, i really would like to see how much better he could get by next season. If he could improve his passing, handle, and three point shooting, he would be a star and sure-fire first rounder. But, going to the Final 4 would be fantastic for this program and would be a mammoth achievement. If we were to beat Florida and Indiana to get there, Marquette would finally earn some national respect and it would help immensely with recruiting, possibly helping to persuade looney or stone to commit. So, in that way, we would be trading one star now for one or two down the road. Beating IU would almost be worth it in itself.
I really want to see Vander graduate. While he'll be a great asset to us if he sticks around, he's one of those guys that seems to thrive off defying expectations, and the impression I get is that quite a few people, especially about 60 miles west of here, don't think he can be a college grad.
Of course, if he leads us to a title and comes back to get his degree later, I guess I could live with that too.
