2003
13 seed gives us a scare
Dog fight vs a 6 seed
Sweet 16 vs a BCS Conference foe with little prior NCAA tourney success
Elite 8 vs a #1 seed who everyone thought would win it all
Kansas in the Final 4
2013
13 seed gives us a scare
Dog fight vs a 6 seed
Sweet 16 vs BCS Conference foe with virtually no prior NCAA tourney success (only one other sweet 16)
Also, the last time there was an NCAA basketball tournament with no teams from Texas was 1977
Gotta like the karma lining up again....
I actually am starting to believe that Marquette is going to surprise some people on Thursday. I've been listening to sports radio all day long and everyone is picking Miami, talking up Shane Larkin, talking about Jim Larraunga and Miami's long list of seniors, and not mentioning any MU players, only Buzz. Let Miami get all the attention and accolades, and let MU come in with a chip on their shoulder.
You forgot ..
2003 - Won Conference Title
2003 - 1st round exit to lower seed in Conf. Tourney
2013 - Won Conference Title
2013 - 1st round exit to lower seed in Conf. Tourney

People talked up Florida last year like that and we were suppose to have a chip on our shoulder then too (after getting destroyed by NC the year before), but I will say I am a lot more confident this year for some reason; Buzz seems to have this group focused on more than just the S16 unlike years past.
Possible match-up with Kansas in the F4 again. Hopefully it goes better than last time, but until then, just focus on Miami first.
And our star player this year and then both have 6 letter first names and 4 letter last names! That has about the same effect on the game as everything else listed.
2003
Sexy Upset pick as a 14 seed against Holy Cross
Sexy Upset pick as a 6 Seed to Mizzou

Oh it gets better think about it no3 no13 in 2003 and 2013!
Both star players are two guards with a '3' number.
Head coach rumored for other gigs.
Other regional semi pits familiar rival (UW, Cuse) against a blue blood (Kentucky, Indiana).

LOL!!! I was waiting for it!
2003 was the last time I stupidly planned a ski trip during final four weekend, and this year I've got a mountain trip planned that weekend.
Tom Crean will wear a too long tie in both Regional Finals
Robert Jackson was a 1 year rent-a-player from a warm weather school transferring back to the midwest.... Lockett is a 1 year rent-a-player from a warm weather school transferring back to the midwest.....

Tip of the cap to everyone of these. Fun stuff.
This means we have to root for Indiana...otherwise all the karma goes out the window.
Didn't Junior and Joe Chapman yak during games, sick with the flu?

The number of letters in the names of MU's top 6 scorers on the team in 2003 and 2013 both add up to 69.
69 is MU's average points scored/game for 2013, 10 less than the 79 MU averaged per game in 2003.
69 + 10 = 79.
2003 + 10 = 2013

Both teams have Marquette on their uniforms!
14 conference wins both years.
Kentucky was a 4 seed the year before we beat them as a 1. Indiana was also a 4 seed last year and we would beat them this year as a 1.

69 + 10 = 79.
2003 + 10 = 2013
So in 2014, we should intentionally average 68 points, so that way we we'll have:
68 + 11 = 79.
2003 + 11 = 2014
I was 14, I am now 24.
Both have 4's??? I am trying here...
