Title: Temple Offense
Post by: BallBoy on March 24, 2013, 02:42:36 PM
They are just chuckers. If they actually played an offensive set, they would have a shot at winning this game.  Their coach needs to pull Wyatt and Randle aside and say you shot one more 30 ft three pointer early in the shot clock then you sit.  Run some offense.

Fran Dunphy has always had an offense that gives players a great deal of freedom.  He has had tremendous success with it at both Penn and Temple.

SUPERBAR

But... Temple shooting 38.2% eFG and leads I4 at half.

When you got someone playing as hot as Wyatt is right now you give him the green light.

What a leader Wyatt is - refs seem to be letting them play and its favoring Temple... they just cant hit anything

Was waiting for someone to start the thread.  Wyatt has 29 of 46 - make that 48 - points.   3 point lead for temple under 5 minutes

Big time.  Would love to have a shot at the tanned one but won't mind them losing now.

IU looked awful and was very lucky.  Wyatt is a stud.  I knew this was going to be a killer tough game, Temple has too many good wins this year.

Yes what an adjustment to face guard Wyatt.  Also, you'll probably give Crean a rub and tug for making Temple's second best player go 0-11.

/furious wanking motion

Temple missed how many wide open shots?

Temple panicked at the end of the game. Didn't run their offense with deliberation.

Wyatt can't shoot the ball all the time.

I know you won't believe this, but I bought Michigan, Indiana and Louisville at a Calcutta last Tuesday. I thought I was only bidding the Hoosiers up but everyone else quit bidding. So I NEEDED Indiana. IMO, the reason Temple lost was an 0-12, 0-6 from three this afternoon from their #2 scorer. They played 7 guys and 3 of them went a combined 0-22, 0-12 from 3. Shoot 35%, miss 21 of 24 from 3 and only get to the line 8 times you can't beat anybody, but IU was SO horrible today Temple almost did anyway.

I'm fairly sure some people let emotions get the best of them and they see things that aren't there or want to believe things are there because of preconceived biases....case in point.

Oh, I believe it.  You have to go with who you think is going to win.  As has been said a million times, it's not a best of 5 or best of 7.  You play one poor game, and you are out.  Many years the best team didn't win or even get to the final (by the way, I don't think IU is the best team and have said that all year long).  Yogi played like a freshman today, Hulls hurt, Oladipo was out of control, and Zeller forcing things.  Give credit to Temple.

I was hoping there was another discussion on who was wearing Isaiah Thomas' number since it's been worn like 7 or 8 times by players since he graduated.  You're always good to come up with some poutrage and be proven wrong a few minutes later.  Rather disappointed there hasn't been a new one in a few days.

Poutrage - The combination of emotion and behavior that results from a possibly feigned or genuine outrage over some slight and pouting about it like a spoiled child.

Appreciate your constant demonstration of your favorite term

I do give credit to Temple - for controlling tempo and whatever effect their defensive effort had on Indiana's poor play. But they didn't score a point in what, the last 4 minutes? And if they only shoot poorly today they win rather easily. If they shoot normally, they win in a walk. You thought MU played like crap against Davidson, but the only thing they did poorly was shoot it. So if MU played like crap, Temple played like whatever's worse than crap.

My favorite team is MU....I defend MU constantly to other teams.  A lot of schools hating on Buzz and MU yesterday.  Glad to chip in where I can in defense of the Warriors.

I just don't dig it when people make crap up, which is typically what PRN does here and you to a lesser extent.  Rolled eyes from Temple player...that was a good one....so good it was worthy of a post.  Seeing things that aren't there...usually indicative of a bias, hatred, etc.

We're all guilty of it, myself included.  Very much I'm guilty of it.  Fans are often irrational.

Temple Offense is an oxymoron.  Too many offenses build on standing around and dribble driving as their primary option.   I have appreciated watching MU's motion.    And nothing frustrates me more than when MU starts standing around, because everyone who has watched this year knows that almost always ends poorly.

sort of how you just misread "term" as "team" just now (Seeing things that aren't there...usually indicative of a bias, hatred, etc.)? Pretty sure I haven't made anything up.

It takes a big man to accuse others of hatred on an online college basketball forum

I was really surprised that Kellogg didn't talk about how much standing around Wyatt did in the second half. I'm guessing that's what he was supposed to do, to occupy a defender, but it was the opposite of what worked in the first half.

Temple had this game but let it slip away because the offense, which was frenetic in the first half, totally stagnated in the final 10 minutes. They had an awesome weapon and chose not to deploy it. I would have loved to have heard an explanation for this.
