What happened?

Marquette happened.

After forging an opening-day miracle to beat Davidson at the buzzer, the Golden Eagles took over the game in the second half. Williams, the Marquette coach, did a masterful job, substituting liberally, keeping his guys fresh, pressuring Butler into doing things they don’t like to do."

Stevens: “The difference in the game was the pressure they put on us in the second half,” Stevens said. “... I thought they did a really good job, all the guys, of pushing up on the ball, whether it was Roosevelt (Jones) bringing it up with (Trent) Lockett hounding him all over the place. They mixed in (Derrick) Wilson and (Junior) Cadougan and those guys are big, strong bodies. (Vander) Blue is a fantastic player and athlete.

I respect Butler, Coach Stevens.

But for now, I'm enjoying these images since our guys felt the same way in Maui:

It's going to be one heckuva rivalry if both coaches stay.

Brad's reaction to the offensive goaltending late in the game was priceless.    For somebody with a rep as cool and collected, his expression was awesome and showed his passion.

I couldn't have more respect for him, the team, and Butler generally. I can't wait to go 10 rounds with them twice a year in conference going forward.

Read his bio.

Stevens to IU.  Definite upgrade.

As a Hoosier native, I could live with that.
