Is it on tv or radio?
I'm wondering too
It's on 540am right now. Not streamed.
Buzz .. just said he was sorry for dancing .. he was excited .. said his two boys are with him .. but his wife has been in a Lexington hospital for the past couple days. ?-( ?-(
Just said his wife has been in hospital in Lexington for 1/2 the week?
Said "D Wilson is the reason we are still playing in the NCAAs."
Buzz .. going off the rails here. Not even sure what he's talking about. Seems to be irked at a reporter. Going off on "Twitterverse" ..
Said something odd like "I don't even want to play in the NCAAs" .. but wants to play again .. his brain is rambling..
Whoa, this is getting odd.

Buzz chippy .. reporter told him they play on Thursday .. Buzz asked "What time?" she doesn't know .. "Oh, of course, because there's tv and money involved?"
Asked about his wife .. he said "she's tougher than all of us .." whatever that means.
Very odd. Acting like he's irked at the world. Complaining about the flight home tonight and money driven NCAA.
Buzz says he knows Rotnei and "all his family" .. can't explain why he didn't score in the final 15.
Presser over. Will have to watch it on NCAA.com once it's posted.

Very depressing press conference for Butler, handled very professionally by Coach Stevens even though you could tell it was really tough for him. Glad we don't have to be the ones feeling this way tonight.

That sums it up pretty well. It was odd. I don't know why he was going down the NCAA money thing. Buzz is set for life because of that NCAA money thing. Kind of weird.
Seemed like he was really upset that they had to fly home right away. That may have triggered his comments.
He seemed a bit irked and wears his emotions on his sleeves which is why many of us love him. You take the good emotions on the sleeve with the bad in this case. He seemed testy toward the guy directing it all, but personally I think that's just his sarcastic sense of humor that is probably lost on most of those who don't know him well. It's the same kind of humor he thrashes his own team with at the Buzz BBQ most years.
Brad Steven's press conference is mighty insightful. He is a genius.

"I love to holler at Junior."
"The toughest/most fragile thing in life is consistency"
I think Buzz will be here a while
Listening to the presser again .. still doesn't make sense.
A reporter asked Buzz .. "Coach Stevens said in the final 2 seconds you made an adjustment that confused them. Can you tell us what that was?"
Buzz (snaps?) "No. I like you, but no. I can't. Your question was can I explain that, my answer is no."
Next guy asks a question, Buzz stops him and returns to the original journalist .. goes wayyy off the rails, talking about how hard it is to get a job in the coaching world .. takes a swipe at (bloggers?) twitterers, people who haven't earned the job as journalists (?) .. but are treated as journalists. Rambles some more .. "Hardest thing in life to get is momentum. Hardest thing to keep is momentum. I don't want to play in the NCAA tournament any more. And as humble as I can say it, I want to see if we can win another game." ?????
"So the reason my answer is no, is because .. next game is a one possession game. I'm not a genius .. I want to be tough .. "
Then he fires off the comments about not being able to go back to the hotel because of the NCAA. (??)
At best, his answer was something about wanting to keep his coaching a secret, so he could use it again next game...???
Odd, odd.
Nancy Armour asked a q from the AP. I imagine she's the Nancy Armour from MU, graduated around 1990.

It's funny, go to the Butler boards right now and they are pretty steamed at their inability, too, to get the ball in bounds. As a few have said, "Brad is a brilliant tactician but he can't get his team to get a ball in bounds"
I don't know why this is so hard for teams, it's a basic play.

I just watched it (first time I listened to it), and I think that's what it was....didn't want to reveal too much.
Just Buzz being Buzz...sometimes he's an oddball. Nothing wrong with it.
Then a reporter asks if MU did something different on Rotnei Clark .. went last 15 mins without scoring (a legit question, Clarke was crushing MU by himself) ..
Buzz's answer "Yes. (we did something different.)" (Can you explain?) "No, I won't explain. Why would you ask that, you come to every press conference. YOu just heard me tell Roger (the dude he went off on) .. you're my boy but I didn't tell him, I aint tellin you."
Buzz seemed .. under tremendous stress. (duh.)
Another typical, that being excessively strange and unpredictable, Buzz presser.
On Junior: "I just like hollering at him. He can take it."
Brad Stevens commented on the defensive look on the last possession confusing his team. Buzz was asked to explain what they did, and he said "No", not as in he can't explain it, but that there's still ball left to play and he's not giving anything away..."I don't want to play in the NCAA tournament anymore. I want to see if we can win another game in the NCAA tournament."
Definitely irked at the demands on him and the kids "And we gotta fly out. All the money that's being generated and we can't even go back to the hotel and lay down or go for a hamburger."
When asked to explain the last 15 minute Clarke defense (I believe by Trebby) also a "No...You're my boy but I ain't tellin' ya."
At the end "I can take these now, right?" Referring to the placards displaying his and the players' names at the podium. Grabs all four on his way out.
He really is crazy. And he really, really wants to win on Thursday.

According to the Butler board (can't find the page right now) they had 2 plays, one if MU was in a zone, another for man to man. They got confused and ran the wrong one.
edit - Per victory firelight, Brad had two play calls for the final play. One for man and one for zone. Players ran the zone play against Marquette's man D. "They switched their matchups so they put Gardner on the ball on Roosevelt...and I think our guys mistook that for zone."
After listening to it, it was totally misrepresented by the folks on twitter. He basically said he wouldn't reveal his in game strategy for guarding inbounds plays and joked trebby about it. He ranted a bit on buzz type stuff, but it was harmless and actually respectful to the reporters in the room. Wolken is a serial hater. Not good at what he does either.
When he said that he did not want play in the NCAA tournament what I believe he means is that he wants to win it not just play in it.
I didn't find it to be anything outside the Buzz norm. He talked about being tested by God multiple times if you don't pass the first time- we got tested by Butler again because we didnt pass the first time and we're getting tested again with the Sweet 16 for the 3rd time to see if we can pass. The reporters wanted to know more about some tactical stuff and Buzz didnt want to explain. Completely understandable as he wants to pass this Sweet 16 very badly

Well played.
The comment "don't want to play in the NCAA", is clearly a reference to we are now here to win it. He probably realized in mid sentence saying the rest would have appeared cocky at this stage. The whole presser is about Buzz mentally setting the team and himself up for the fact that we haven't accomplished anything yet, we've got to take the next step, get to the final 4. And all that stuff about jobs and families depend on it. I pretty sure that nobody at MU is going to get on Buzz's case for ONLY getting to the sweet 16 a third year. This is all him mentally putting the pressure on himself so that they are completely focused on winning on Thursday. His comments about "when we play"; he's already got to move on to the next game.
Not sure about the spend the night stuff. I wouldn't think the NCAA has a rule that they have to leave town. I think that Buzz is so living this, no one respects us, no one gives us anything attitude that gives the team and him that EDGE that when he sits up there emotionally drained this stuff comes out.
The guy is quirky but dog gone it he WINS and he wins in March. And if that is the way he does it bring it on.
If you want to take one more nugget his comment about take a good job and make it a great job would seem to me to reference winning a national title at MU and make MU a powerhouse. This is the way I hope he feels. Its one thing to take the Kentucky or Indiana job and win a title there but to build a powerhouse at MU . As Buzz would say "Everyone would stand at attention for that"

connie, a reporter said yesterday he met his entire family outside Rupp Arena on Friday. He called it Norman Rockwellian...or something like that. 4ever was just pointing out that either the reporter didn't know that the woman was likely not his wife (which seems odd since he claims to have been introduced), lied or embellished the whole thing, or perhaps it was his wife who was up and about for a short outing.
But I suggest that you not make such accusations without knowing the whole story.

Only thing that was odd is when he blew off Trebby's question. I think the man is tired! With the travel and preparing team for practice, games, his interviews, wife is in the hospital, etc. The guy prob hasnt slept much since the brackets came out last Sunday let alone the last few days!

Not odd at all. He doesn't want to discuss the strategy and tactics he used because he doesn't want to potentially give anything away that could be used by Jim Larranaga or John Groce in the next round. He explained that earlier to the other reporter that asked about tactical decisions when he was asked "could you explain..." and Buzz's response was "No" and saying not that he can't but he won't.
I also loved how he swiped all the name tags at the end... Such a unique character.
In so many ways, he's a 2013 version of Al. Absolutely love him! What a break that he's our coach.

Adding to his complaint was that the NCAA was about $$$ and not about the players and people who make these games happen.
I'm down with that, Buzz.
I stole the sign below from the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
Just watched the presser. Absolutely LOVED what Buzz said. His answer to the NY reporter was respectful and right on target. In essence "I've got one trick up my sleeve and I'm trying to pass God's Sweet 16 test so I ain't tellin' ya".
Best part was his frustration with the numskull from the NCAA who didn't even know if they played on Thursday.. By NCAA rules the team (all teams) had been kicked out of the Hilton before the game. I know for certain that 'wheels up' was 1 am for the trip back to MKE. I think Buzz would have liked it if the NCAA coulda spared "one more hotel night and a hamburger" for his guys. Just a 'workin' man hatin' on the stuffed suits when he and his guys were dog tired.
Man this guy is awesome.
The two questions Buzz refused to answer .. what did you do differently to guard Clarke in the 2H, how did you do something different in the final 5 seconds that confused Butler ..
The answer to those questions are on game tape, right? I mean, couldn't a smart basketball coach watch what they did there and learn "the secret"?
I'll be the first to say I know little about X's and O's, but I'd wildly guess that what happened isn't some kind of black magic, and could be understood and roughly duplicated by another team.
Right?

While I was getting ready for work, I had the CBS sports channel on, and they showed Coach Larranaga talking to his team after their win yesterday and telling them that they were going back to the hotel to get a good night's sleep and then having breakfast and leaving for Miami this morning. If that was a NCAA rule, why wasn't Miami following it?

The kid didn't know any better and was just answering the guy's questions and being polite, but Katz had a crap-eating grin on his face the whole time. Maybe Katz just always makes that face. I don't know...
If Buzz didn't want to answer it, he could've answered it vaguely. "I'm not sure what part of the situation we did that confused Brad, but we just tried playing good tight d in that situation and whatever we did helped us come out ahead." I'm not the smoothest with words so I will give Buzz a break. The reporters were just doing their jobs and Buzz really seemed to call them out.

I think maybe Buzz got ticked when he followed up with something like "did you move Davante to the ball?" or something that got specific about the strategy. That follow-up pushed him away from giving a vague answer like you suggested.

Man this guy is awesome.
...and the Duke/Creighton game started around 10 pm eastern, wonder if they got to stay the night. If not wheels up... what at 4am! Creighton must have touched down around 6 this morning in Omaha
