Question for the old-timers...I have no idea. Have we ever done it three times in a row?
Before now...obviously?

Yes
Went to 4 straight in the early 70's.
Id like to see 2 straight S16s and at least an E8. Maybe that's just me...

Yes, but there were only like 32 teams at the time, all had to do was win one game.
Me too.
Keep in mind the tournament only had 32 teams until the 1970s.

Correct, but they are still in the Sweet 16 count.

I think they went to 32 in '74 or'75; nonetheless Marquette always had to play that first round game when it was only 24 teams.

So not in the current format, which is more difficult.
But those teams were better.
The fact buzz made the '12-13 team a s16 team is absolutely amazing
Depending on who wins tomorrow we will be 1 of only 2 or 3 teams to go to the sweet 16 the past three years straight. It will be MU, either KU or NC, and maybe Florida.

Correct, of course the other way to look at it is several of these MU teams the last few years wouldn't even have made the NCAA tournament back then. It was easier to get into the Sweet 16, but very difficult to even make the tournament in the first place. We have to remember that piece of the equation.

Exactly. Lose Butler, then lose DJO and Crowder, perhaps a bubble birth this year? No, not a bubble birth. Big East Champs, Sweet 16, no big deal.

NateDogg,
If you posted this well all the time, you'd be a mediocre poster.

Yes, unfortunately when you surf the web in California, the latino version is the default.
To kind of answer the original question, this is the first time that Marquette has won two or more games in three consecutive NCAA Tournaments in the history of the program. Tan Tommy, Rick, Hank, and even Al never did that.
when has MSNBC ever got anything correct ?
I honestly didn't think MSN still existed. People still go to that site?
