Title: Georgetown game thread
Post by: JD on March 22, 2013, 06:45:35 PM
Down 2 at half... :o

Same team that beat Miami earlier...  Not good if they lose, need them to play strong for the BEAST.

They usually are pretty hit or miss in the tourney.... I don't see them pulling away from FGCU... this one is gonna come down to the last few mins I have a feeling

I expect Hoya Saxa to methodically suffocate them
in the second half.  They just need to get a couple
shots to fall for Smith-Rivera and Starks.  They'll
pull away when a couple other guys rather than
Otto Porter score a bit.

Any Jamail Jones sightings?

Hopefully the Hoyas get it together, need the NBE respect and some more money for the conference.  Though I forgot that JTIII's list of NCAA crap-outs is only a notch or two below Jamie Dixon.

17 point game and GT completely lost, the rout is on.  The last graphic showed that this would be their 5th straight loss to a double-digit seed (with an NIT appearance sandwiched in there).  Couldn't imagine HoyaScoop.com after each of those.

Another March...another JT3 early exit.  He should get his own Bo Ryan wikipedia type page.

Under JT3, GTown seems to underachieve in the tourney...just like PITT.

Shocking. A slow, boring style that overachieves in the regular season then craps out early in the tourney like clockwork. Why does that sound so familiar? Oh right, Wisconsin.

We played them in 2008 for our last regular season game. Pretty sure Crean scheduled it to give a bump to our last 10 games record when the selection committee was still using that as a metric.

What I find fascinating, is that these "slow down" teams, like UW, like GU, can win conference titles and do really well in their conferences every year against teams that play them regularly and should be able to take things away from them. Yet, they don't. Then they get into the NCAAs against teams that have little time to scout them, have never played against them and are small school, much lower seeds reek havoc on them. I don't get it. But I NEVER bought the Georgetown hype anyway. I always thought if you took Porter away, you'd beat them. They just had a bunch of guys that played over their heads during BE play that that carried them.

Remember the strange cupcake game Crean scheduled in March?  That was them.  Also where Jamail Jones transferred to.

Fieler from FGCU posted the view from outside his dorm room earlier this week...

Makes me cringe at the view outside of MU's dorms most of the year...

Florida GC shouldn't rush on O.   They're not staying calm once they get it over halfcourt.

G Town has the athletes to run.

Let me ask you all a question...If MU was GU and UW and constantly getting worked over by double digit seeds in the tourney, sometimes in embarrassing fashion, would you rather, as a fan, be in the NIT than have to endure that on a yearly basis??

negative.   Bo maximizes his talent during the conf season and they enjoy winning for 4 months.   Question is becoming the talent level he's going after now a days.

GU, I'd be very frustrated...maybe let hoyasincebirth let us know how they deal with that frustration.  UW, nah...they often manage to win a couple games, far different than getting handled by 14 and 15 seeds.

Losing in NCAA first round >> winning NIT

No one cares about the NIT.  At all.

"We're the 69th best team."  is what it means.

Bo does not maximize his talent.  He has a lot of talent over the years.  The myth of the scrappy little over-achievers is just a myth.  He takes average players and makes them good, and he takes great players and makes them good.
