Yesterday's win was Buzz Williams 6th NCAA tournament win at Marquette, moving him into second place all time at MU behind only the legendary Al McGuire. Nice going, Buzz.
only took him 5 years to do. Congratulations Buzz and boys and thank you.
So what was Al's record and how many were consolation games.
Bait in the water, just waiting for a strike... lol
Congrats to Buzz. Cannot compare though because of number of teams now in NCAA. Comparing Buzz to KO or TC is fair, but Al had fewer games in NCAA.
Congrats to Buzz and MU. The great tradition at MU continues.

Agreed congrats to Buzz.
Aside from the stats even if Buzz stays for his career and goes on a tear (wins 3 NCs even), I'm not sure Al would ever be displaced as #1

What if he wins 4?
I am old timer that loves Al and would love nothing more than have Buzz displace Al as #1.

Agreed 1000% and it's a distraction from the tournament, but since Al made MU a BBall school in the first place he's got to stay as our favorite coach regardless right?

To have both Al and Buzz in our lifetime bring back the bling would be awesome, bro.

And he has done it in a way in which we can all be proud. Refreshing.
I'm only 25 years old, graduated in 2010, so clearly I wasn't around for Al but have heard all the stories and know the history plus I am currently reading "You can call me Al" and I absolutely LOVE the guy. I'm as big a Buzz fan as there is (was actually at his press conference when he got the job) but I agree that Al will always be number 1.

So when it's time to replace The Al, we can replace it with The Buzz!
Mr MUskie
If Buzz stays here long enough and matches Al's success I will donate the The Buzz Center.

The Al won't be replaced. It will simply be in the shadow of The Buzz, MU's future on-campus arena.

I'm not sure but did you just donate 30 million dollars to MU if Buzz wins a natty? U got that kind of couch change on u? :)
StoneCold
I have a case of the shorts in coming up with 30 million. But, would follow your lead and buy shots for the house if MU wins tomorrow night.

I would personally fund the changing of the outside signage to rename it "The Buzz Center"
The money should be flowing in because of the win over Davidson. We have some endowment catching up to do.

I'd pledge 50 large and then hightail it for Bloomington.

Speaking of which, has that first check been written to support the Marquette Soccer program?
Well done, Buzz. Many more to you and the Marquette program.

Well, there was a long break before Buzz resurrected that proud tradition but, yes, the great tradition now continues. Refreshing.
