Goodbye demons of the following games:
- Novak's open miss vs Alabama
- Lazar stepping over the line on the inbounds
- Lopez' effing hook shot from behind the backboard
What else am i missing? Washington?
We've exorcised the first (second) round demons of recent years past, now to exorcise the Maui demons.

+1
Thank you Marquette ballers!!!
Don't think this makes up for any, cuz some of these teams could have been special. This definitely feeld good but in those years still have the "what could have been" feeling.
definitely does not make up for them -- those players didn't get to win this game. perhaps helps to even out some late game karma in the tourney, but, at least for me, the joy does not equal the pain of those losses, esp. lazar & lopez.

Agreed, and the Lazar Mizzou game hurts most, cuz James was coming back, and that was a special team up til the injury.
Good point, mupanther brought up the old heartbreaks.

Miami of F@cking Ohio. Great clutch shot by Blue but the demons from that one remain...
Every year is different. Long way to go in this Tourney.
Bad losses sting forever. This W will be savored forever. Cannot make up for tough losses, but this sure is one to enjoy.
According to KPom, at 1:10 left in the game and MU down, 54-48, there was a 3.9% win probability for the Good Guys.

That is unreal.
That's too good not to share.

NO, WE WILL NEVER GET OVER THAT ONE. EVER NEVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!
The demon we excised was 1969 in Madison, when we lost to Purdue in the regional finals on a missed free-throw with one second left. Thank you guys.
Suck on them nuts Jean Felix!!
Thanks Topper, that's pretty astonishing.

I was at that game. It was my senior spring break 2006 and some friends and I had agreed to go wherever the team was placed to watch them play. Of course they end up in San Diego, but we bought our plane tickets and game tickets Sunday night as soon as the matchups had been announced anyway (draining our bank accounts).
Had tickets in the corner by Steve's shot, about 5 rows up and saw the same thing he did, wide open. I will never, ever, be able to let that one go.

That's not Kenpom, that's my 401(k). I'm at the 1:10 mark. Hoping for the same finish!
Stanford sticks with me the most. Can't say for sure why.
Maybe the good wins wouldn't be so damn good without the bad losses. That's March and that's why we love college basketball.

No, your not missing one. Those were all heartbreaking. Maybe Tulsa in 2002.

Toughest loss I've experienced. The one time that team was all healthy. Had so many chances. I'll never forgive Crean for that game. Never changed things up, and allowed their PG to walk it up, and dump it in to the Chia Pet twins every time down.

Yes, for us older alums those losses were just as painful. We have to understand, for us those are memories, to the younger alums it's history.
That Washington game has to be the closest, I mean we lost on a layup after a huge comeback in the end of the game. This time we won on a layup after a huge comeback in the end. Plus for me being a freshman that year it will always be a horrible memory.

Well put.
I can get used to the outcomes lately. DJO hitting the shot against Syracuse is up there with Vander's shot.
It's certainly easier to stomach the KU in 2003 and UNC in 2011 types of defeats where the opponents left no doubt.
It's harder when you feel that the team maybe could have had elite 8 potential but lost earlier to good teams like 2009 to Mizzou and last year to Florida. I think those were Buzz's best two teams and injuries and an under seeded Florida kept them from the elite 8.
2010 was Buzz's least talented team so it's hard to get upset about a first round loss. But it's too bad we lost a close game in probably our luckiest draw of the decade pulling a 6 seed with a very winnable pod.
