Title: How much was the new TV deal?
Post by: Mr. Nielsen on March 21, 2013, 11:21:19 AM
Xavier is saying they will be getting 2.5 million per year. That is 300 million for the league.
I thought the Big East was looking to get 500 million.

Interesting that the article says "For example, the new Big East will help Xavier get more students from big cities such as Chicago and Milwaukee."  I know Cinci is smaller than Milwaukee, but I think there are other bigger cities they could call out.

It could be that theyre not splitting the revenue equally.  Could be the original 7 members get more money, or that Gtown, MU, and Nova are getting more based on relatively bigger brands than the others

You must of miss the part that said...
Graham said all conference members, including new invitees Xavier, Butler and Creighton, will share the television revenue equally.

A certain amount of that will go to overhead for the conference, so even if its a 500m deal it's not all going to the school's coffers.

It's possible the 500m figure assumed 14 teams, so Fox may have that money set aside as the conference chooses to expand.

Who knows what it means.   They may have their info wrong.  The C7 schools may be taking a cut off the top to reimburse for all the start up costs, and then sharing the rest evenly.  That may be the base pay for each school and there's incentive bonuses paid for performance.

I thought there would've been a report on the deal, since everything else has been leaked out.

According to Adam Zagoria, the deal with Fox is 12 years for $500 million.

Stone to Xavier.
