Do you know any Marquette fans who will be in Las Vegas for Thursday's game? They can watch the game at the sports book with no sound (and where they will spend the next 84 hours anyway) or you can send them to Scooters Pub. Where other Alumni will be gathering and watching the game with sound.

Nice! I may join up as it'd be a lot more fun (and presumably cheaper) to watch there. Gotta check with some buddies first, though.
EDIT: How many are going so far?

I don't know yet. An email just got sent out to 77 people today.
I'll be joining with a buddy or two for the marquette game as well. How many other marquette people are likely to be there???
Looking forward to it. Arriving in Vegas tonight around 5.
Side note: this place is nowhere near the strip. If you are flying in, you will need a car to get there.
jsglow and I were out in Vegas awhile back and went there to watch the Pitt game. We went there because we heard it was the "official" Marquette bar in Vegas, but for this game, we were the only people in the place besides the bartender (tipoff was 10:00 am Vegas time).
Food was pretty good, and the Bloody Marys were reasonable. Marquette won the game and I won playing video poker during the timeouts. It was all good.

It is about a 12 dollar cab ride from the south end of the strip (Mandalay, MGM, NYNY)*. There will be drink specials, you'll save money and probably get a ride back if there is only a few of you.
As for the review, it is really only a Marquette bar when I send out emails and get people to show up.
*Tip, if you are near one of these, tell your cabbie not to take the express way and drive down Tropicana. They are trying to rip you off.

Wasn't slamming the place. I had a good time and the bartendress (a hot Asian chick, BTW) turned all the TVs onto the game.
My personal opinion: rent a car unless you plan to do some serious drinking and can't get anyone to be the designated driver. I have been to Vegas dozens of times, and rented a car every time except the first. There is a lot of fun to be had off the strip, and cars can be pretty cheap based on what is going on in Vegas. We've gotten them for under $10/day base.

Not mad, I thought the review was very fair. Let it be known, this place is only a MU bar if I say it is.

Thanks for that tip. I'll definitely keep that in mind.
I'm going with 6 other guys and we're staying in the MGM Signature so we'd definitely cab it. 3 of the guys are K-State alumni, one is a UW-Whitewater (he cheers for both MU and UW), one went to RPI and is a Duke fan and then me and my buddy are MU fans. I'm sure he'd be down for going over to Scooter's.

The same thing goes for the ride from the airport. Don't let the cabbie take the highway. Technically it's illegal for them to take that route, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
I wish I was going to be there. Had started planning a buddy trip for this weekend but then my buddy said he had to take the kids to Disney Freakin' World instead!
Damn!!
I'd think Vegas would be the perfect place to be for this weekend on the calendar, and I will do it one of these years.
For anyone already there, what are the current odds for MU to win the whole thing? UW? GTown?

Went to Vegas on a buddy's trip for the first weekend in 10'. Overall the weekend was a great time except for MU losing to Washington. Would definitely recommend it to anyone, really a great time of the year to be in Vegas.
At scooters. Nice bar. Nobody here really.

I had someone put a bet down for me last week. I got 60-1 at the Bellagio.
Not sure about UW or GTown

Is that with tires?
What's the point of going to Vegas, if you're going to sit in some bar on the outskirts? ?-(
Gotta go to one of the big sports books on the Strip. Caesar's is especially nice.
Already placed bets. ^^^ and to be with other alumni??? I think that's a pretty good reason. It's only a couple hours. There is plenty of time to spend at the sports books for other games.
Just got back from Caesar's and on Tuesday odds of MU winning East was 12/1
If my memory serves me we were 30/1 to win the whoe thing.

Yeah, 3 miles = out skirts. And Ceasars = ESPECIALLY nice? are you kidding. Enjoy sitting in your baquette chairs.
We had 11 thursday. Hoping to do better saturday since there won't be work conflicts.
