Bulletin board material. I like being the upset everyone thinks they can predict, rather than the one know one sees coming.

I'm sure Buzz is loving this.
Dookie Vitale also picks Davidson
Probably going to be the fashionable upset pick of the first round, particularly since not too many people know anything about either team.
I know nothing about Davidson, but if we can't beat a 14 that's on us. I'm looking forward to a good game Thursday.
Who is this Gregg Doyle character? Going a little heavy on the Big # love

Gregg Doyle is the CBS Sports equivalent of Skip Bayless, he is a troll who simply tries to stir the pot.
I don't really buy the bulletin board material stuff, if you can't get up to win a tournament game, and need to get motivated because Jerry Palm picked against you, there are bigger issues.

Being able to play the disrespected/chip on your shoulder card is a good thing. Its not about Jerry Palm, its the media, us against the world mentality. Players generally play well when they're mad.
We haven't played well the last 4-5 games with injuries/suspensions to our opponents as well
Road performances biting us in the prediction a$$. It's just guessing though.
The analysts on the CBS sports network liked MU, several having us facing off against IU in the E8. C'est la vie.
Maybe it is a personal pet peeve, but I can't stand the disrespected angle that is so overly prevalent in sports. If players want to use it to motivate themselves, I guess that is fine, but reading these boards it is over the top. The team just got a three seed, there is no slight.

Really?
MU is 4-1 over its last five, with two road wins and two wins over ranked opponents.
The only loss was on a neutral court to a ranked team.
You'll excuse me for not clutching my pearls.

Exactly. And a lot of what I've ready talks about how Davidson is a superb 14 seed, probably should have been higher - so again, it's not so much MU disrespect as it is respect for Davidson/surprise at their low seed
It is what it is... Analysts always try to find one game where they'll look smart if the upset happens and they all jump on it. I remember the general consensus being Murray State had a great draw to the sweet 16 last year and we all know how that turned out.
Speaking of disrespect, did anyone catch the fact that the CBS Sports Channel had our logo backwards during their entire analysis of the Eastern bracket?
Not only that but Alaa Abdelnaby called us the "Marquette Warriors" at least 4 times. And not in the defiant, old school sort of way but in the "Duke-is-so-superior-to-all-other-schools-that-I-don't-even-need-to-remember-your-name" sort of way.
I'm glad our game is going to be broadcast by a REAL television sports icon - TruTV!
Love it. This is just what Buzz needs to see.

honestly, though, #mubb is the weakest 3 seed and we're overseeded. I don't blame people for picking Davidson.
Same crap every year. MU's opponent is always the trendy pick.
That's cool by me. Less points I'll have to give up :)

Davidson is also red-hot and was a Cinderella a few years ago. That sticks in people's minds.
That said, Marquette should win by double figures.

Did you see those games? I was courtside for both MSG games and we did not play well

Since you were courtside, I guess we have no choice but to take your word for it.
Bilas has us in the elite eight....

*FIXED*
I am just saying we did not play well. Maybe that's what the so called experts saw as well. I hope we play better on Thurs., that's all.
Buzz is a 3 vs a 14 and still gets to play the underdog, no respect card??! Wow, he's loving this and so am I.

Exactly.... if I were on my way to Vegas, I'd be ecstatic right now. It's hard to be a gambler and a fan sometimes because you don't want to bet against your team and you don't want to be giving up a bunch of points when all you really want is a win. This is smart money, people. It's not Vegas that disrespecting Marquette, it's all of the idiots who are betting on Davidson.
I'd rather be disrespected and have a few more dollars in my pocket.
If I had to pick two experts I'd trust the most from that list, it would be Parrish and Cleaves. And lo and behold, they took MU. And if I had to choose between letting my cat swat colored mice to determine winners or the bracket of Doyel, Norlander, or Palm, I'd go with the kitty.

Gary also picked Wisconsin & VCU to go to the Final Four. That's not where I'm putting my trust.

The problem can be the three seed. A team can be happy with that accomplishment. Then, just when you're patting yourself on the back, the experts come along to say; "Yeah, but you're gonna lose to a 14 seed." I like it as a vaccination, if you will, against complacency.

Which is what happens to us when we get a decent lead; and we have yet to play a full 40 minutes of good basketball.

Combination of people betting Davidson and also watching us away from the Bradley Center of late. Last three games, narrow wins over Rutgers and St. John's, loss to Notre Dame. We are a much different team away from the BC.
