Three bad possessions in a row, each with a bad pass leading to turnovers.  Can't extend the lead.

Keep up the defense, ND can't hit a three yet.

Get #2 on Cooley.
Title: Re: Notre dame game thread
Post by: chapman on March 14, 2013, 08:58:25 PM
Better passes, and tighter D needed - three of NDs four threes were good shots that just didn't fall, and they missed a couple bunnies.  The first part takes care of transition, which will stop the bunnies.

Keep it going boys.  Except for sloppy turnovers, almost a perfect start.

ND is 2 for 17 from field.

Extend this lead, nothing, nothing is safe in the BE.

Those turnovers might be more costly if ND could hit a shot. We need to keep playing tough defense, hold the defensive boards and cut down on the turnovers. Gotta believe that some of ND's shot will start falling.

Then again, I hope not!

Burr with the admonishment and threat of technical on Buzz after he ran to congratulate Cadougan on his charge taken. Driscoll with the fan ejections.

Title: Re: Notre dame game thread

17-4 with 11 minutes to go.

Outscored 25 to 8 after that.  Lockett, Anderson and Derrick Wilson not very good so far.

MU is shooting 50% from field and is down by 4, even with Cooley a non-factor.

REASON:  11 turnovers to 4 turnovers.

Cut turnovers, no #3 fouls early on Otule/Gardner and have Vander take more than 2 shots.

Title: Re: Notre dame game thread
Post by: chapman on March 14, 2013, 09:39:42 PM
Nobody's done anything to get T'd, so Driscoll has to take his little man syndrome out on someone...decides it should be a fan in a pink shirt

Good first 9 minutes, terrible last 11 minutes.

Key stats: 16-10 rebounding edge (started 11-2, since 5-8), 4 free throw attempts (to go along with 6 the first 36 minutes the first game), and 11 TOs (stolen 6 times) to 5 (one steal).  ND 2-10 on threes, MU's only attempt was Junior's shot.

After Buzz ran onto the floor to help up Cadougan, Jim Burr talked to him and Buzz clearly looked none too pleased with what Burr said. I then said to my wife, "That's gonna hurt us." Since then...

Score: ND 15, MU 4

7 fouls called on MU, 3 on ND with ND getting away with 2 blatant travels that resulted in 5 points.

I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

That aside, MU hasn't made it easy on themselves with some awful turnovers. 17-4 lead should have been 30-4.

I think that's why Buzz did it. With the way ND started, he knows it would take herculean effort for 30 minutes to run away.

Better to keep OXtule with only two each and let 'em loose in second half.

dont think Mu has won a game in the BE tourney in 3 years now, but we've made the Sweet 16 twice in a row....I'll take the NCAA wins

We won two games two years ago

Refs weren't why we lost this game.  We were outcoached and outplayed.

Turning point was Buzz letting fouls dictate the game. We were in control until then when nd ddominated our small lineup. Whats buzz saving the 6 fouls for?

No bright side to this.  Cadougan, Blue and J Wilson played well, Gardner was OK, everybody else was bad.

So true.  MU was in complete control until Otule & Gardner get 2 fouls.

Last year, in the BE tourney Buzz said "We pissed down our leg".  Same result tonight.

Yep.  It'll quell the "no respect" whining; the Georgetown and Louisville hype was backed by dominant 19 point wins for each.  We, as Buzz said of last years' appearance:

Got to let Juan run around not knowing what's going on instead.  Not Buzz's best showing.

Well, at least not until we add Duke, Wake Forest, Gonzaga, St. Mary's and SMU to the league.   ;)
