UND has a tradition of big, slow traditionals who play down in the paint. Tonight, Knight & Connaughton are dominating and have racked up a combined 30 points with 10 to go. Rutger's Johnson is putting up numbers though. Do we match size or go for agility?
We matched size up with Otule and he responded fairly well. the issue is cooley.

ND has seven big guys, but Connaughton isn't one of them, he's a perimeter guy. We can't match size, Gardner can't and Otule isn't used to playing a whole game. Best bet for stopping Connaughton is to match up Jamil on him and try to block/alter his 3 pointers. Last time out the guy who really hurt us was Grant the SG, though.

Oh, I know Cooley is the challenge. Tonight Knight played out of his skull. We were lucky last week as Cooley had diarrhea and was limited to about 12 ineffective minutes.
We are going to have to play big for at least 10-15 minutes. By big, I mean 3 of the following 4 playing at the same time...O'tule, Gardner, JWilson, STaylor.
Steve is going to have to shine. If I'm Brey, I'd Take it hard at Davante.
Forces Jamil to play the block.
I feel very good about this game tonight. ND looked even slower tonight than in the previous 3-4 games that I have seen them play. Connaughton is not going to go off like that again--probably ever--much less back to back nights. Feelin good. My site doesn't have a line on this game--anyone seen one?
Attack Cooley. Keep him in foul trouble and were fine. Connaughton is a good shooter but nothing crazy good. Grant is as streaky as they come.
Pick 'em, We R.
One of the key plays in ND's win over Rutgers came when Rutgers doubled down on effin' Sherman and left Connaughton wide open to hit his 6th trey. Rutgers had just cut it to 5 and ND was scrambling.
Don't double down on the bigs and leave the 3-pt shooters wide open.
Don't! Don't! Don't!
Take your chances that Otule and Gardner will do OK against these guys and that even if they score, it's only 2.
Don't give up wide open 3s.
We are quicker, more skilled and better coached. 3-pointers are the only way ND can beat us.
Pick em? Wow--expected us giving 3.5-4.5. Buzz won't stand for a loss tonite.
Strange game as ND didn't really look that good. Cooley for certain looks like he's still drained. Their defense is just terrible. Always amazed they win 25 games playing like that.
Big minutes for the guard trio. This is where MU's slow starts will hurt because if they had heads out of assholes from the beginning they could theoretically run that guard trio ragged in the first ten minutes of their second game in two nights. Unlikely though.
Curious to see how Brey balances playing time up front. Knight was out of his mind but Auguste had a career game (and only highlight performance of season) against MU last week. Does he try to ride the hot streak from last night or does he try and catch lightning in a bottle twice with Auguste against our soft 4 lineup?
Now seeing MU giving 2, 2.5, and 3.
Don't like the concept of Jamil guarding vs. 3-point shots - leaves his feet and gives 'em 3 at the line.
MU -3 is what I have.

This will be a different game with a healthy Cooley. I hate to say this, but I will take ND plus 3 tonight. I see this as a nail biter down to the last possession. I hope we win, but the plus 3 is a good bet imo.
What do people think for lineups to beat ND this time around? Oxtule wasn't as effective last time around. But did Jamil play with them? I think he would work well with them. 1 of the 3 would be open.

There will be plenty of time to go around. You play ND the way you always do...pressure the ball and make sure your bigs play solid defense and box out.
If they go to zone, you flash Jamil to the top of the key.

Different game because it's not at the Bradley Center, also.

+1. ND is very much a rhyme-based offense. You need ball pressure to disrupt their timing and flow.
Gotta win tonight. Need to get at least a couple wins @MSG to get some momentum for the tourney...
