Title: Biggest Week in MU Sports History In Last 10 Years
Post by: Avenue Commons on March 10, 2013, 09:29:12 AM
Considering in the past week Marquette 1) co-won the Big East and 2) officially seized its independence from the football tyranny,

Obviously 1977 and 2003 (Final 4 and BE) were very significant years for Marquette hoops. But I can't remember a single week where so much positive stuff happened. Certainly not in the past decade.

Last fall there was a week where Women's VBall and Soccer and Men's Soccer were all highly ranked and rising in the polls.

That actually was a huge deal. I went to the soccer games. They were a lot of fun and watching us beat then #2 UConn was great. In the fall, there was a chance for 3 Big East Conference Championships (Men's and Women's Soccer and Women's Volleyball). Paired with this last week of MUBB, I think it better to say that it's been a great YEAR for MU Athletics.

I'm happy for those other Marquette teams but in terms of national recognition men's basketball drives the bus.

Marquette hoops doesn't drive the bus, it IS the bus.
