Welcome to a defining moment in MU history.....And grateful that he contributed to it.
ONIONS!
The kid delivered all year. If we had last years Vander we having Losing record in BE this year. Fitting end for him and team.
The question about who wants the ball at the end of the game and who takes the shot has now been answered. Over that shot-blocker, too.
So, agreed we all prefer him over Snaer?
But not end. Just the beginning of the end (he said with hope).
MU has had some heartbreaking losses the past 10 years, but this had the chance to be the worst. Biggest shot by an MU player since DJO's three against 'Cuse in the tourney.
For a guy, that's big through a ton... Spurring the Badgers, committing to MU, struggling to meet high expectations his first two years, what a moment for him.
Greg Anthony said Vander should be in consideration for BE POY during the halftime show of the Louisville vs. ND game. Don't agree with that, but he has been our star this year and he shut me up today.
He completely manned up today. What guts. He took the same drive twice in a row....to tie and then to win...good luck trying to stop me SJ's.
2 sweet sixteens, loses three teammates to Nba in two years, now a big east champion. Oh, and 2-1 vs sconnie. Nice career so far.
too bad he's not any good
He's no DJ Newbill, but he'll do.

He made the right choice. Thanks Cap Times!!!
Just want to see this thread back on top.
That was a man's shot today, a true pleasure to behold, a great moment in Marquette history.
Frankly, I thought he looked half asleep for much of the first half (as did several others). He picked it up considerably in the second half, thank goodness, and came up huge in OT.
Some might already have forgotten that he hit a similar runner in the final minute to tie the game and put MU in position to win it on his shot.
So totally clutch.

That, and also, would love to rub the Vander
haters' nose in it, like a carpet soiling, disobedient
puppy. The shot that kid made today is definitely in
the pantheon of all-time MU buzzer beater shots. Not
quite Jerome Whitehead level, but it's up there.
I look forward to having him back for his senior year
