If Georgetown loses, MU wins and Louisville wins then both UL and MU end up 14-4. Are we really co-champs even though they abused us at the YUM! Center? Doesn't seem fair for UL.
Maybe they should have beaten Notre Dame then. Then they wouldn't have to worry about it.

How am I sad? Head to Head is the most natural tie breaker around, I am surprised it does not come into play.
The regular season title is shared, tiebreakers just determine seeding for the Big East Championship. The Big East Champion that has no tiebreaker by default is the winner of the Big East Championship, the true name of the tournament.

logic would only apply if UL had to play us at the BC as well.
If Louisville loses and Georgetown wins, Georgetown would have the tiebreaker over us because they beat Louisville, right?
Yeah the tie-breaker goes to whoever has the better record against the next highest team. But what happens in the case of three-way champs?

The three teams would form a "mini-conference" in which Marquette (1-2) would be the three seed, Louisville (1-1) would be the two seed, Georgetown (2-1) the one.

It's the way the rules work. Finish with the same record, you're co champions...hang a banner even if it's something Tom Crean would do. They will have earned a co-championship. Period.

They share the regular season title since we do not play a true round robin schedule and therefore all conference shcedules have a different amount of difficulty to them.
You could argue we get the short end of the stick in the three way tie scenario. We do lose the mini-conference but basically when any of Georgetown, Louisville and Marquette played each other, the home team won. You could argue we're third only because we played one at home and two on the road, while Louisville played 1 and 1 and Georgetown played 2 at home and 1 on the road.
As for schedule difficulty, our pair games are USF, SHU, Georgetown and Pitt. Louisville's were USF, SHU, Syracuse and ND. Georgetown got us, St. Johns, Syracuse and Rutgers. Louisville probably had the easiest of the schedules (Georgetown and Pitt > Syracuse and ND) and Georgetown the toughest, with only one bottom feeder.
Put it all together and the fairest thing is co-champions. They have to do something for tournament seedings, and though not perfect, the mini-conference is as good a method as any.
We have to win first.
