Another Chapter in "As the Tan One Turns"
He will be hanging a special banner for this years "share" of the title as well.

There is already a thread on this very topic on the Superbar...where this one belongs as well...
STOP
For the sake of fairness I need to criticize these threads just as much as the ones that Chicos starts. They are both deteriorating MUScoop.
Just stop
Honestly, the mods should just create a gigantic thread about Crean in the Superbar and move all of these over there.
+1
Chico mia today?
In all fairness, I would hope we hang a banner if we tie as conference champions.

But not after we hang 4 more NC banners
I agree TT, but a precedent is set at Indiana where they track conference championships on a singular banner (listing year by year they have won or shared the title).
There will be a special individual one for this year.

Gotcha... Yeah this year shouldn't get it's own if they already have a banner with all of them.

I gotta disagree. Superbar, as I understand it, is for nonbasketball topic, like politics. This is not only basketball related, but related to MU's past. Okay, some don't like this. I don't think that it deserves much discussion, but I appreciate someone pointing our a link to the story which I otherwise would have missed.
Superbar shouldn't be a kind of Siberia to exile a thread to just because many people don't like the topic, IMO. I read only about half the threads on MUScoop. Just passing by the one's I'm not interested in isn't hard at all.
If someone hates reading about Crean why would they click a thread named "The Tan One".
(insert joke here)

Here is the definition of this forum: "Forum / Message board for all things related Marquette Basketball - recruiting, coaching, game strategy, etc."
This has nothing to do with MU basketball.

There was precedent at MU too. 1994 (reg season) and 1997 (conf tourney) are on 1 banner, whereas 2003 gets its own.

Ooo Ooo, i know the answer!
You hang a banner in the BC if we win the BEAST... even if it is a tie. We have never won the BEAST, so its the start of the banner.
Now, what you DON'T do is hang a new banner each year. You merely tack on the year you won the championship.
I have no problem with them celebrating the fact that they are cochampions. The lame part is the NEW banner that CTC has created for this year's squad.
1. Its insulting to the previous IU B1G champs.
2. Its self-aggrandizing as hell. (No shock there)
3. It makes him look like a total douchenozzle to everyone.

Two things:
1. Do you know that they do not have a banner for each year?
2. TC would need to have this cleared by someone. If it was really a spit in the face of the past, it would have been a veto. Truthfully, I think they are dying for something to hang so BAM... banner.

1. They do not. They have a separate one for 1983, for reasons I cannot recall, but the rest are listed on one banner.
2. What Dakich said yesterday is that given all that the IU program had been through, that Crean felt that hanging a separate banner for this championship would be appropriate.

There is one banner for conference championships that they add the years to. Except, Knight put up a banner commemorating 1983 championship due to injuries or something. Interestingly, that banner was taken down for quite a while (leaving the one multiple year banner) until Crean learned of its existence and had it put back up in 2009.

1. Wrong
2. Of course. But it was his idea. Who is going to tell the head coach no?
3. Tvuyo ebat mat.
Crean outdoes himself once again. Next season we will be witness to a net cutting ceremony following a cream and crimson scrimmage.

I'm almost positive one of the commentators last night said that the 1983 one was in recognition of the fans for all they'd been through or something along those lines.

From Wiki: "In 1982–1983, with the strong play of Uwe Blab and All-Americans Ted Kitchel and Randy Wittman, the No. 1 ranked Hoosiers were favorites to win another national championship. However with an injury to Kitchel mid-season, the Hoosiers' prospects were grim.
Knight asked for fan support to rally around the team and, when the team ultimately won the Big Ten title, he ordered that a banner be hung for the team in Assembly Hall as a tribute to the fans, who he credited with inspiring the team to win its final three home games. Nevertheless in the tournament Kitchel's absence was felt and the team lost to Kentucky in the 1983 Sweet Sixteen."
Love to see what RMK's response will be. No wonder he won't go to Bloomington.
IF Indiana is truly one of the historic elite programs, this is a huge embarrasment. Kinda like forcing staff members to kiss Riley's ring.

Crean was eviscerated on Mike and Mike, PTI, and Around the Horn for making a mockery of Senior Night with his celebrating last night. The net cutting ceremony took place at almost 1 am EST!

Home in bed. Crean had his post game presser at 0140. I wonder how many journalists sat through Sr night then all of the other celebration bullsh1t for his press conference to start.

How in the world is this about MU's past? It's about Indiana's 2012-2013 season.
Superbar, please. The Crean obsession is as bad as the Badger obsession. Who gives a unnatural carnal knowledge?
Amazed Too Tanned Tommy even showed up for the presser. In these situations and such, he could've sent Buckley to the wolves.

Interesting that the country is 55% against while here at MU Scoop it's at 95% against....no bias here. LOL.
Incidentally, another wrong point made here that the 1983 banner was only up for a short time. That is false. It was actually up until the Mike Davis era, more than 15 years it stood hanging from the rafters and was restored in 2009.

So Scoopers were almost unanimously on the side of a landslide winner! Good to know, hooray for us.
Chicos is upset because, should we go on to win the Big East, his already drafted screed about Crean winning a conference title before Buzz will have to be placed in the round file.
