Anyone hear what happened at the ND game. There may be some guys suspended for St. John's Saturday. This according to homer.

One SJ player ejected. Sir'Dominic something or other.
One nd player too.
Pointer just started wailing on the ND guy who fought back a little. Probably doesnt hurt ND as even if hes suspended I think he was a garbage time player.

Scuffle in the last minute with some fisticuffs. Both ND and SJU had a player tossed. Pointer for SJU likely to be suspended for the MU game, which means SJU will not have him or Harrison. Good for us!
Steve Lavin really signed a bunch of punks and bad actors over the last 2 years, plus half of them
never became eligible.
Yup--Pointer got into it, looks like he threw the first real punch.
No idea if he'll be held out of the game on Saturday, but here's his stats:
Player GP MIN PPG RPG APG SPG BPG TPG FG% FT% 3P%
Sir'Dominic Pointer 28 25.8 6.7 5.3 2.7 1.3 0.8 1.7 .511 .662 .313
Team Rank 4th 5th 3rd 2nd 1st(T) 3rd 4th 1st 5th 4th
(sorry if table doesn't show up great)

Keep in mind, too, that they are already going to be missing Harrison--their leading scorer.
I think Biedscheid will be getting a game too.
Is that ?uestlove in the video?
Amir Garrett left the bench. Does the BE/NCAA have suspension rules similar to NBA on that?
He's averaging about 20 mpg for SJU.
Biedscheid was the ND player and he is a very good outside shooter

Biedscheid is an important reserve for ND. Their 2nd best freshman.

I was thinking earlier that one of the downsides of the new league is that there are no teams that are really easy to dislike in it, a la 'cuse, UConvict, Cinci, Pitt, etc. Maybe St. John's will fill try to fill that role.
And yet, Marquette still wins by only six.
Brey came off the bench and was shouting at the referees while they were trying to get the players separated. That's a pretty stupid move. Let's distract the referees while punches are flying, so you can get your two cents in about how outraged you are.
Porter threw 2 punches and was ejected, he'll be suspended pet NCAA rules in Saturday. Garrett will be reviewed by the BEast officials.

Let's see... they started a fight at ND on senior night during ND's last Big East home game.
I'm starting to sort of like 'em. Let's get 'em to schedule Wisconsin.

I have to imagine his entire season is over now.

St. John's twitter (@STJ_Basketball) account confirms this.

This.
I'd be surprised if Pointer sees the floor in the BEast tournament too.
Kind of surprised Biedschied was involved... haven't watched the video closely but would have to think he wasn't the aggressor in terms of actual punches flying... thin kid.. watched him a fair amount in AAU and he always seemed real nice/pleasant... had braces for awhile if I remember right. Just is one of the last guys I'd guess would be in an on court fight.
Well, they are the Fighting Irish.

From what I saw he was doing a lot of trash talking during the free throws prior to getting punched.
Did we ever hear of suspensions from both sides? I'm hoping it's just the Johns player. We need ND full strength at Louisville.

FYI--This article is about Harrison, who was previously suspended for the season, not Pointer. What I've seen says that Pointer will just be suspended one game. Haven't seen any more about Amir Garrett, who was ejected for coming off the bench during the fight.

Isn't leaving the bench an automatic 1-game suspension? Or am I confusing NCAA basketball rules with IHSA rules from the late 90s?

What I read yesterday is that it is an in-game ejection, and then the BE would review it for further action. From the video I saw, though, it didn't really look like he got into it at all--just was on the outskirts of the scrum.
Fighting, though, is an auto one-game suspension, which is why Pointer is out for Saturday.
