Poll
Question:
Should we change the BE logo?
Option 1: No
votes: 49
Option 2: Yes - Come up with something new
votes: 61
Option 3: Yes - Go back to the old Big East logo (from the 80s&90s)
votes: 18
Since it seems a sure thing that we will be able to keep the name, I wonder if we should also keep the current logo, at least for the foreseeable future.
It looks like I'm the first to vote no. Why spend good money for something, and then throw it in the waste can? Let the dust settle for a couple of years before changing stuff around, if you don't have to.
These are the old logos
I also vote no because I like the look of the current logo. And while I doubt the logo is recognizable to the average Joe, it nevertheless means some continuity--shows BE basketball is the same quality it has always been. However, I could see people having different viewpoints on this matter (hence the poll).
Personally I am a fan of the retro look of the original logo, but I'm guessing I'm in the extreme minority. My bet is that they'll keep the current logo to try and maintain brand continuity for a few years.
Need to get the new pope on there.
I don't remember when the Big East changed to the current logo. I always liked the original better, but then again I still listen to 80's music sometimes.
Go with the old logo. Retro = better.
This, please.

2005, I think.
Nope. Keep the continuity.

Yep, it was 2005.
I voted for a new logo - maybe one that has an extremely subtle basketball reference.
Retro
The current logo is 8 years old. I think its gotten its use. This is a perfect time for a new branding.
I think an updated version of the original logo (so its not QUITE so 80s) would be perfect. I wish I was a graphic designer so I could show you what I mean,
But keep the essential elements of the original, to hark back to the basketball only days
I don't think you go with Fox and use an old logo.
Newer is always better
I will eat Rocky's IU baseball cap if they decide not to change the logo. New teams, dramatic new direction, new media partner (who will likely demand new marks)....I'll put it on YouTube
The name and tournament venue are meaningful carryovers. The logo, nah - got to put our mark on something. After we saw Tulane's press conference proudly displaying the current logo, which is probably also splattered around Memphis, Temple, UCF, SMU, Houston, and ECU's campuses and in the garbage cans at Boise St. and SDSU I'm good with an update.
They should put a crucifix in the negative space between Big and East.
new but similar logo, the way that pro teams change it up subtly, knicks last year vs. this year (less black more orange) etc.

Great points. I think there's no way the logo doesn't change to some degree

Or make the "T" in "EAST" a crucifix

My newest, and therefore best, rule.
They are gonna change the logo. The current one has 16 "hidden" in it. I hope they keep it close to what it is now but I doubt they will.
The current logo is too similar to the Conference USA logo. If not the original, maybe go with something blue & white (Fox Sports colors) with a basketball in place of the "g" in Big.
I voted NO. I like the idea of continuity. To the average fan we were, are, and will be the Big East.
Unless we had to pay for it. Looks like we've paid enough already.
By the way, all those people claiming that the added teams should get equal shares....sure, as soon as they kick in the $100M plus we paid to get rid of the football schools. Money talks, BS walks.
