He's been there from day one. I know he's slick rick, but he has sold me on this- really believes in the new conference.
I HATE UL, and I mostly hate the way they play. They force so many TO's because they hack and grab and hand check all over the floor. It's the old "they can't call them all" philosophy. It makes me sick. It's cheating the game. It's a freaking BS way to play. if they had to play teams straight up without that garbage they'd lose a lot more games.
My guess is he's indirectly talking to his own administration as much as anyone.
Peyton Siva hurts UL more than he helps them. I have seen enough UL games this year that are tight when he's in there, and all of a sudden he comes out for a decent length of time and they pull away. I have NO idea how he was voted BE player of the year before the season. I thought that was the biggest joke I had ever seen.
That cat Harrell is going to be an unbelievable player. He impresses me more and more e dry time I see him.
The way for MU to beat UL and I hope Buzz makes this adjustment is for him to have Jamil handle the ball more against the pressure.

I think you have to be able to effectively beat them with the dribble. If you start throwing the ball around like UC did, you're in trouble.

Exactly, and Jamil can do that. You can inbound it to Junior, that's fine, but then he has to find Jamil, and it would be best if Jamil wasn't stationary, be moving cross court so he can catch it with his momentum going towards the other end of the court, then hit a cutter...preferably, VB going to the hope for easy points. You see, teams play into UL's hands with that press. They LET them get into it. Once you do that, you're in trouble. The quicker you move the ball, the better your chances are. So you dribble but not too much. You just can't let them trap you. That's the key. You have to keep moving. You do that via play design and cutting and moving. Get UL's defense on it's heels and out of position.

Well, OK. But I'd coach the exact same way if I had the athletes to pull it off. The exact same way. Because it's my job to win within the rules.

The refs did swallow their whistles tonight (big time), but I don't think UL necessarily banks on that philosophy. I mean, to a lesser extent then what you're saying, all teams/players aggressiveness depends on what the refs are calling on a particular night. If the refs are calling everything, teams are going to play a lot less aggressively and vice versa. I think a lot UL's aggressiveness tonight was based on the Wild West tone the refs set to start the game.
