But we aren't a "perennial power" like Georgetown. We are "traditionaly strong" like Villanova.

She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro.
If DePaul and St John's ever wake up this will be a very strong conference.
By staying at 9 teams, the new Big East could be vulnerable to future conference realignment. Huh????
None of these 9 have football. Where else would a hoops-only school go? And why would they ever leave the new Big East?

Unlike most of us this is still new to some, even some journalists who haven't figured it out nearly as well as they think they have.

But in the photo caption, the "flagship programs" are Georgetown and us. Two years ago it would have been Georgetown and Villanova.

That's what having a solid center every year, like Georgetown does, will do for you.

That doesn't make sense to me either.
If the eventual four big football conferences decided that they want 2 basketball only schools each for some strange reason, the new Big East having 9 members or 12 members does not matter at all. Georgetown, Nova, DePaul, Marquette, St. Johns (at least if it happened today) would all be gone faster than you could blink in a scenario like that. The number of teams in the conference would not matter, because the TV contracts in the other conferences would be well worth the split.
