Poll
Question:
Who would you want to play in the NCAA Championship
Option 1: Indiana
Option 2: Gonzaga
Option 3: Wisconsin
Option 4: Georgetown
Option 5: Butler
Option 6: UNC
Option 7: UL or Cuse
Option 8: Duke
Option 9: La Tech
Option 10: Notre Dame (for funsies)
When it comes to tournament history, it doesn't matter who you beat in the first five games, people will only remember who you beat in the sixth.
So who would you want to play on April 1st?
Indiana - Exact the only form of revenge that will finally get people around here to shut up about the guy.
Gonzaga - If you're going to resign yourself to playing a #1 in the championship, it might as well be the weakest #1 ever (according to Chicos et al)
Wisconsin - Just imagine... a lifetime of bragging rights regardless of how good UW or how bad MU is in the future.
Georgetown - Nothing says instant credibility for a brand new conference like an all-C7 championship game.
Butler - Haze the new guy by sending him a "Runner-Up" banner to hang with his other two, and avenge an early-season heartbreak in the process.
North Carolina - For the sentimental folks who pine for the days of Jimmy Carter.
Louisville/Syracuse - Here... let me help you out the door.
Duke - Because it's Duke. It's Duke.
Louisiana Tech - I'll take the easiest possible matchup for $100, Alex.
For me, it'd be Arizona (second-favorite team).
Of your choices, I'd say Louisville.
I wanted to say Louisville, but then I thought it'd be kinda lame to play a BEast team. So I went with Indiana.
I mean, it's Indiana.

Excuse me -- For the sentimental folks who pine for the days of AL MCGUIRE!!!!!!
Maybe Buzz can get two technicals in the championship game -- oops that's NC State.
Hint to Buzz: After we win it, we're not humble!!!!!!!
Hey, where's Notre Dame on the list?
The F'in Irish definitely would be #1 for me, followed by Wisconsin.
To account for the present circumstances, Indiana would be a natural next choice.
Of course, any of the above scenarios would only be good if we were guaranteed to win because losing would be too painful to take.
Since you are calling this a dream situation, let's assume the win!

Of course, there's no way the Irish would ever get out of the first weekend... I thought that was generally assumed.
For me, it was between Wisconsin and Indiana. It would be ridiculously awesome to beat them in the national championship due to, like you said, the life-long bragging rights. But, on the other side of the coin, if we were to lose to Wisconsin, having to hear it from their fans for the rest of my life would be unbearably awful. Therefore, I would rather face Indiana, because if we win, we would beat tommy boy and if we lose, it would be what everyone expected.
Been waiting for this Final Four dream matchup for decades
Marquette (alum)
Indiana (alum)
Kansas (alum)
UCLA (fan since moving back to the USA in mid 70's)
What a tradition rich, who's who Final Four that would be. I'd be in my glory.
Would love to meet Florida and avenge the beat down they gave us by taking the championship.
Georgetown.
If we're living in a land of dreams, you've gotta bring your best bros along for the ride.

Bingo! Playing us in the title game means that they went to the FF, which boosts the profile of the C7

Funny. But seriously ... is it that difficult to change one of these things and make an addition as obvious as ND for this poll?
Not that it matters, but if you're gonna do one, even for funsies, you don't want ND in it?
Speaking as one who's been to FF when your team wins (77) and also being a student when your team loses (74), as well as an alum (03), my dream matchup would be vs anyone we can beat. Losing sucks.

Maybe, they would shut up, but not until after a three to four week feeding frenzy.

No chance that would shut people up. It would make it much worse. And I would lead the charge!

Of course, there is no way that Indiana will make the Final Four anymore. You need some luck in the tournament, and there is no way the Indiana gets the benefit of the doubt on a close call after the Minnesota thing.
BTW, I voted Georgetown. Got to look to the future, and what better way to launch a new league.
Definitely the Domers. And I'd want to curbstomp them and leave them a broken, bloodied mess.
Kentucky. We've got a curse on them in the tournament.

FIFY
Bucky.
I'd love to play the easiest team available.
It's Georgetown.
Can you imagine the masturbation that would happen for the decades after over the C7?

I agree with this. Can we get Grambling in there?
Georgetown.
As much as it would suck to lose the title game, making it there is a huge accomplishment. I don't want teams I don't like to achieve that.

+ 1
As someone who lives in the DC area I am a little biased, but Georgetown definitely! Every time I go to see us play at the Verizon Center there are a group of fans that act like their program is incredibly elite and I have no right to expect a competitive game.
There are some good fans too, but hey, I remember the jerk offs the most.
