That is all.
I'm guessing they still prefer their current problems to UCONN and Cincy's...
That wasn't exactly Grantland Rice type sports commentary. Of course these schools are going to tweak how they schedule etc. The author starts out two straight paragraphs by saying the requests by West Virginia were not unreasonable. The build up leads you to believe the cost of the soccer travel will bankrupt the state, instead they are working with the conference on easing travel. I would imagine Iowa State makes similar requests.
From the article ...
One thing the conference can't do: Change the fact that every other school in the Big 12 is at least 1,700 miles and a time zone away, something the Mountaineers knew very well when they voluntarily switched leagues.
According to Google Maps ...
Shortest Distance
Ames - Morgantown = 870 miles
Longest Distance
Austin- Morgantown = 1405 miles
Where did they get "at least 1700 miles" Did they use Hunt's spellchecker as a fact checker?

Ok, it might be a round-trip from Ames ... it is poorly worded and that was not obvious until I pointed out the distances.
Can we drop the Gonzaga talk now?
