Title: Turn the page...

and get ready for Monday. Bad day all-around in a very tough place to play. Syracuse didn't have such a hot day, either. We win Monday and we're in good shape.

Good shape for what?? A double bye?? Gee...yippee! How nice is that when they could have won a BE title. Always the bridesmaid.

Or the title? If we win out and GT loses to Cuse we're in first.

MU better be prepare for the press as it on the tape and MU did not handle it well. Mayo should be bring the ball up against the press and for heaven sakes do not leave you feet to throw a pass.

Right, but now they don't control their own destiny like they could have. Need help. And besides, one more GT loss even with MU winning out would than create a three way tie for first with GT and UL. MU could have won the thing outright if they would have won tonight. At least then destiny was in their own hands.

My God, in a rebuilding year we're a game out of first with four to go after losing 50 percent of our offense from last year. Next year we will be deeper and quicker. Anything we did this year is gravy.

Exactly...wasn't there just a post about 10-3 being above most people's expectations a few days ago?

I love this board...always Jekyl and Hyde.

Mike McCarthy said it best..."you are who your record says you are". Thus, MU IS a 10-4 team. People's expectations were out of whack, that was the problem, not that this MU team has "overachieved" in their eyes.

Buzz was right about this team: It isn't very good compared to the top teams in the league. It has to play very well to win, and tonight it didn't do that. We still have not the bad conference loss most in the BE have had. Player for player we can't match Syracuse, Gtown or Louisville. We've gotten to 10-4 by being very good at home and we will end up getting to the NCAAs in a year when people were predicting NIT. I'll take it.

Whoever was predicting NIT knows nothing about anything. No way was this an NIT team. I didn't predict it here, but I told people close to me(and can get sworn affidavits if need be), that this team would finish in the top 4 of the BE if not contend for the title.

yes, please provide sworn affidavits.  we need to see those.

And thanks for being the voice of reason we all so desparately needed after this game.  You are doing a great job!

We still have a shot at the title. Win out and we're 14-4. That also ensures Syracuse has 5 in the loss column. If Syracuse beats Louisville and Georgetown and Georgetown loses at Villanova (where every other top Big East team has also lost) we win the league outright. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

I know what needs to happen...But don't you agree that it would have been MUCH easier for MU to win it had Cuse beaten GT yesterday and MU did what they were supposed to do and beaten Nova?? Then MU didn't need to rely on anyone but themselves. Could have controlled their own destiny. Not that I won't take the title that way, I would but there's something not as pure about "backing" your way into a title as there is about just going out and taking it. Same thing with sharing the title. Heck, unless MU wins the title outright, if they are co-champs with say UL and GT or either or, they would be at best the two or 3 seed in the BE tournament as they would lose tiebreakers to both.

14-4/13-5 is not 'backing in' to a title.   It is a hell of a good year.    Villanova was favored yesterday, and Vegas was right.   Winning is always better than losing, but this is not a 'bad' loss.   It is an unfortunate loss.   It is a loss that is clearly causing you angst.     MU's only 'bad' loss so far is to GB.

Of course it would have been easier. But there always seems to be one game we end up losing in the Big East that we should have won. Whether it's the game at Georgetown last year where we had them beat and let it slip away, St. John's coming in and smacking us in the mouth 2 years ago, losing at DePaul in 2010 or at South Florida in 2009, this stuff happens.

I'm not happy. I was livid last night as I watched the game and couldn't believe how stupid we played and how badly Buzz was out-coached. But today's another day and if we win out, I honestly think we will still win the league outright, or at worst share it with Georgetown.

Trying to remember the seeding...wouldn't we beat out Georgetown if it were the two of us tied at 14-4? We split the regular season series, isn't the next tiebreaker best common win? We'd both have Syracuse as that. They certainly have the worst loss (USF) but I'm not sure if that factors. Can't remember all of them...

The question now is where do we finish if we lose to the Orange and ND.

No...MU would lose a tiebreaker to GT. The tiebreaker is the best win against the team that finished highest in the standings. So say they both beat Cuse...that's even...but no doubt the next highest team after that will be Louisville. So GT wins the tiebreaker. I can see Georgetown losing once more(law of averages says they are due), I'm just not sure about twice more. Thought they'd lose yesterday for sure. I could see @ Uconn being tough for them, but if they don't lose that one, Cuse @ home might be there only remaining loss. I know they play @ Nova still, but....meh.

As bad as we were last night I am confident Buzz will have guys better prepared. If not, season could end up shorter than expected a week ago. I think getting by first weekend on NCAA is longshot at best.

UConn beat Syracuse at home, 'Nova beat Syracuse, Louisville, and us. Honestly, I could see GT losing both of those even before playing Syracuse on the final day. I'd be more surprised by them going 3-1 than I would them going 1-3. Fully expect 2-2 from the Hoyas.

We have not lost two straight games this season. They will be ready to play. Home cooking should help. I agree, if we lose this one then we will be middle of BE.

BINGO!  If you haven't come to accept the facts, I feel bad for you.  Milwaukee sucks, Bloomington and Lawrence are beautiful, Marquette sucks a$$ and Kansas and Indiana are the best!

And Davante should have to shoot 100000 free throws after yesterday.  Clearly he's the worst ever.

The latest odds I saw before tip had Nova as a 1-point favorite.

So I guess, technically, MU did exactly what we were supposed to do.
