Title: 540am ESPN Online
Post by: jimmybutlerfanatic on February 19, 2013, 08:26:39 PM
Anyone catch the postgame comments? Worthless 540am ESPN radio just kept cutting in and out. What a worthless way to listen to the game. Thank God for the pirated tv broadcasts so I can watch!

AM often does.  Switch to the FM station after the game.

Cosign.  What the hell is going on over there.  This year, their stream has sucked donkey balls.

They jack in these strange interviews with random sports figures DURING the game, then the stream goes backward and forward in time.

Not to mention the dead air.  Get it together, ESPN540.  >:(

100.5 FM.  http://espnmilwaukee.com/ gives links to both options on the front page of the site.

Double cosign.  When the stream was only 30 s. off last year I would listen to it while I watched road games because listening to a stream 30 s. off was better than listening to Dickie Simpkins.  I only stopped listening this year when I was forced to listen to 5 minute clips of the Aaron Rogers Show during the game.  Now, I will listen to any awful broadcaster over the 540 stream, including broadcasters who cannot tell the difference between Vander Blue and Todd Mayo.  That's a pretty pathetic thing to say about the production of the 540 internet streaming.  540's production has made me a proud listener of Dickie Simpkins and every other annoying third-rate TV announcer.  Thanks.

Yep .. most games I stream Homer and pause the DVR a minute to sync the streams.

This year, every freaking commercial break, it's out of sync.

Really.  What the hell are they thinking.

Were you able to get the tv feed on that European link? It didn't work for many of us.

No problem for me. I'm on the other side of the world with a VPN (virtual private network) making it look like I'm watching from the US or whatever other country I want in case it's blocked or not working great. Best $60/year investment ever!

I've been emailing/tweeting 540 on this all year, as I always prefer syncing road games w/ Homer/Mac through my DVR  over whoever SNY/MASN sends out there.  But you're right, it's really becoming unlistenable-  Vander in transition cuts out to Bubs BBQ ad followed by Aaron Rodgers.  However, the feedback from various personnel has ranged from  "Can you tell us exactly what you're hearing?" to "Yeah, our stream wasn't very good today- no answer".  I even emailed one week back in December to let them know I thought it had improved, to have it suck again.    Ridiculous

The reason seems incredibly obvious - they just don't give a damn about putting out a good product and the product they put out is equal to how much they value Marquette and its fans. It's a garbage broadcast on a garbage station. If they were broadcasting Bucky you can bet they wouldn't be making the same mistakes.

Milwaukee sports talk is so amateur and pathetic compared to most other mid-sized cities. They really don't cover anything well.

Fwiw, this is the best audio 540 has produced this season. In sync with the TV broadcast the entire game.

Nice work.

No 5-minute-long, out-of-place promos in the postgame ... yet.
