Title: TV for Seton Hall
Post by: MU82 on February 18, 2013, 08:33:21 AM
Trying to figure out where I'll be able to watch this game besides on ESPN3. Is it available nationally on any of the DirecTV channels?

Thanks, folks. Looks like it's on here on channels 636 and 640. Now I just have to find a local establishment with one of those channels.

See it is on Time Warner(don't have it) and blacked out on ESPN360.
Any other ideas how to stream the game?

It will be likely blacked out in parts of Wisconsin where Marquette sold the rights exclusively to Time Warner.

It shouldn't be blacked out for directv. I've never seen Time Warner black out a conference game. They get most of the non-con games blacked out though.

that was non-conclusive for DirecTV subscribers - some might be blacked out, some might not be?

This year, the following games have been blacked out for customers of Charter, AT&T, Directv, etc due to the Time Warner exclusive deal in certain zip codes in Wisconsin...the game below were all TW32 only.

North Carolina Central
UMBC
Savanah State
SE Louisiana

It may be that only the non-conference games were because they were TW32 only.  I can find out tomorrow pretty easily what the instructions are to the national broadcast center and if they are forced to black them out.  Obviously the conference games are also on the Big East Network which is SNY, MSG.  It's never been an issue for us out of the state so I never really bothered to look.  Will check tomorrow and let you know.

I think that the blackouts only applied to games that TWC32 produced. So the BE Network telecasts should be fine.

That may be true; however, it's been established that the blackout procedure is one that is not entirely fool-proof and cable/satellite companies have been known to employ plenty of fools (present company notwithstanding).

So there's always a chance that you might get blacked out when you weren't supposed to or you might get a game that was supposed to be blacked out.  BEN games, which are produced by ESPN-Regional, are not supposed to be blacked out (only those produced by TWC are), but occasionally, it does happen.

Conference games are never blacked out. Everybody will be able to see it.

I have the mobile watchespn app on my phone. Do blackouts apply for mobile devices as well? Probably a dumb question but looking for a sliver of hope here.

Blackouts do apply for mobile devices.  They use your GPS to determine location normally,

In the Milwaukee area, any game on Time Warner Sports 32 - whether it be an MU game or other type of Big East game TW32 is airing - is blacked out on the WatchESPN app on mobile devices.

Well it looks like I'm out of luck unless I can convince some friends to go to a sports bar with me. Would definitely appreciate a link.

Well, that conflicts with MuMark saying "Conference games are never blacked out. Everybody will be able to see it."

Which is it?    TV not blacked out but WatchESPN is?

I meant TV is not blacked out in Milwaukee. I don't know about streaming or mobile devices.
